Yesterday we went to offer our condolences to the family of the late Lebogang Rose Phetla.

Phetla was shot and killed by a male suspect right in front of her kids who begged with him not to take away the life of their mother.

We thank the SAPS for arresting the suspect. South Africa is not a banana republic. Such actions requires the full might of the law to descend on the suspect and ensure justice is done for the family of the deceased.

We lower our banners as we salute the life of Phetla.

May her soul rest in peace.

I invite all of you to familiarise yourselves with this paper because whatever we are doing is for your benefit and therefore your participation becomes very critical.

ANC branches must not elect crooks to lead communities. The ANC suffers today because of unscrupulous characters who are given leadership responsibilities and then end up arrogating to themselves the status of demi gods who have nothing to learn from the people.

The ANC structures should involve communities in electing candidates for ward councillors. Those rejected by communities must understand the ANC doesn’t have its own interests except those of the people -our communities.

The “through the eye of the needle” ANC document guides us about the calibre of people we should elect to serve our communities. As ANC members we must read the document and enforce it as we continue to renew our organisation and broader mass democratic movement. The people deserve humble, effective, hard working and informed personnel to serv them.

We dare not fail!

The ANC led government in Mpumalanga is very intentional in serving the people. The following are things that are done by the government of the ANC to improve the lives of the people:

1. Establishment of the Mpumalanga International Food Produce Market, which is expected to open during this first quarter. It will create approximately 100 000 indirect jobs and direct opportunities for more than 156 000 people.

2. provincial government has signed an MOU involving the University of a Mpumalanga and partners
from China to establish a hybrid rice farming programme in the province. This initiative has the potential to create approximately 380 000 job
opportunities across the agricultural value chain while improving foodproduction, agricultural innovation, and skills development.

3. During this financial year, government will build 10 new schools, including a dedicated school for deaf learners. This investment forms part of our broader
commitment to improving access to education and ensuring that no child is left behind because of disability, poverty, or geography.

Today we successfully launched the LET and Volunteers in the Ehlanzeni region, Mbombela subregion in KaNyamazane.

Organisationally, the ANC is oiling its election machinery in preparation of the upcoming local government elections scheduled for the 4th November 2026.

We will give communities tried and tested individuals with a proven track record to deliver services to the people. We will prioritise communities and quality service delivery over anything else. Our people deserve the greatest of honour and respect and that can only happen when we are with the people.

The ANC has no other interests except championing the collective interests of the people.

Today I officially obtained my Post Graduate Diploma in Public Management from Regenesys.

I spent sleepless nights, balancing between my public duties as a member of the legislature, a leader of the ANC in the province, father, academics and other duties and responsibilities - to ensure that I get this qualification.

Education remains the only way in which we can ready ourselves to solve the problems we face as a people. Without education, we run the risk of using common sense and plunge the country and our lives in a perpetual abyss of anti intellectualism and non reliance on evidence based solutions.

I am thankful to my wonderful wife, children, comrades and my lecturers for walking this journey with me and offering support each time I needed it until the fina day.

I challenge all young people to seek knowledge every day. It was Lenin who informed that the task of revolutionaries, particularly young revolutionaries is to learn. Even those who are no longer your, it’s never too late to improve your knowledge. Knowledge is the fuel of our lives.

We cannot truly lead if we are not slaves of learning, unlearning and relearning.

I dedicate this qualification to you all, my people.

Executing parliamentary duties with the Portfolio Committee on Co-operative on Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs

On this da, the portfolio committee fundamentally dealt with and focused on matters pertaining quality service delivery, municipal support programmes, financial management, and progress made in addressing challenges facing municipalities across the province. Members of the Committee also engaged the Department on issues of quality assurance, programme alignment, budgeting and performance monitoring contained in the APP.

The work of government must continue and solely focused on improving the lives of the people of our country.
