No student should be denied access to higher education because of poverty. We reject the proposed application fee and demand an inclusive university for all.

Tonight on NWU FM 105.5, SASCO’s Cde Tshiamo strongly rejected the proposed application fee and raised concern about the position taken by the YBM (BOSA) Deputy Secretary during the discussion.

Cde Tshiamo made it clear that any position which accepts or tries to justify the implementation of an application fee is indirectly supporting the exclusion of poor and working-class students from higher education. Organisations cannot claim to stand for students and the marginalised while supporting policies that create more barriers for them.

SASCO remains firm: no student should be blocked from accessing education because of their financial background.

This is indeed, 1991 Reimagined and Relived! ✊🏽✊🏽
