Another Life Skills Programme was presented to high school learners with the aim of promoting positive personal development, responsible decision-making, emotional well-being and healthy relationships. 🌱

Through practical and engaging sessions, learners explored important topics such as self-esteem and self-awareness, communication, emotional management, decision-making, peer pressure, goal setting, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, bullying, abuse and neglect, and personal responsibility.

Learners were encouraged to reflect on how their choices and behaviour can influence their present circumstances and future opportunities.

By equipping young people with knowledge, confidence and practical skills, we can help them navigate challenges and make informed choices that contribute to healthier, more positive futures. 🧡

😢 Abby’s story is truly heartbreaking, and sadly, it reflects the reality faced by far too many girls.

At just 15 years old, Abby is facing an experience no child should ever have to endure.

Following a Form 22 referral, Abby was referred to Badisa Trio after allegations of sexual abuse by a trusted family member over a period of approximately two to three years. The person involved was someone Abby trusted and viewed as a protector and role model, making the emotional impact of the trauma particularly significant.

Abby initially shared what she had experienced with people within her faith community and with someone online, before her parents became aware of the situation. The most recent alleged incident took place in July 2026.

Abby now urgently needs professional psychological therapy to help her process her trauma, manage her emotions and develop healthy coping skills as she moves forward.

We deeply value the support provided by the Thuthuzela Care Centre, which offers a vital place of and support for children and survivors of sexual violence. They are a beacon of hope during some of the darkest moments. 🧡

The estimated cost of a therapy session is R800. Every contribution towards Abby’s therapy will help give her access to the professional support she needs and can play an important role in her emotional healing and future well-being.

At Badisa Trio, we believe that what happened to a child should never determine the rest of their story.

With the right support, Abby can begin to heal, rebuild her sense of safety and look towards a brighter future.

Your support can help make that hope possible. 🧡

We had the privilege of joining SANCA Western Cape Bellville at the Westcliff School of Skills Social for their WE CARE Mass Prevention Programme. ✨

The day brought together various organisations and professionals with one important goal: empowering and educating young people through prevention and awareness. 🤝

The programme included valuable information and activities around:

• Substance abuse prevention and awareness – presented by SANCA
• Social crime prevention and safety awareness – presented by SAPS
• Fire safety, emergency procedures and responsibilities – presented by the Bellville Fire Department
• Health, wellness, physical activity and the importance of purpose and a positive mindset – shared by a Health Coach
• Children’s rights, responsibilities and personal safety, presented by Badisa Trio Bellville Child and Family Services

We were also excited to introduce the children to Kuumba 🧡, reminding them that everyone deserves to feel safe and that support is available when they need it.

A special thank you to SANCA Bellville for hosting this impactful initiative and for bringing organisations together to invest in the wellbeing, safety and future of our young people. ✨

Together, we can create safer communities and brighter futures! 🤝
