Maluti-a-Phofung leadership budgeting to avoid embarrassment:

Pressure mounting for the local municipality, Maluti-a-Phofung, as no agreement has been reached yet with Eskom before tomorrow's deadline. Rolling blackouts will mount the pressure on the Major as the electricity will be cut from 6-10am and 5-9pm on weekdays and 7-10am and 5-8pm on weekends. Residents are threatening to torch municipal buildings if it ignores the situation even further after a 2 months warning period.

Residents of Qwa-Qwa, Harrismith and Heilbron falling under Maluti-a-Phofung municipality and Ngwathe Municipality in the Free State have threatened to burn their municipalities if arrangements are not made to pay Eskom debt by their councils.

Maluti-a-Phofung failing to reach agreement with Eskom pre June 5th deadline.

The three municipalities still owing Eskom are Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality, Ngwathe Municipality and Lekwa Local Municipality - and may have lights turned off next month.
