PUBLIC NOTICE:

Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality has noted with dismay the ongoing veld fire on the open fields and farms in our municipal jurisdiction. The Municipality has been in laison with relevant fire authorities since the inception of the veld fire, including the District Municipality, which oversees the function of firefighting.

The Mayor has been assured by the fire extinguishing authority, through Mr Herman, that the Ganyesa and Tosca fire stations have been activated since yesterday and are on the ground. They have been joined this morning by 20 fire fighters from Mahikeng. The Mayor has also made a request that we be assisted with air support from Potchefstroom.

We wish to commend patriots who have been dealing and assisting with extinguishing the fire with their own resources, which in the main are farmers within our municipal jurisdiction. We further urge them to be safe as they continue to do so.

Community safety is at the core of the primary objectives of our municipality and we will do whatever it takes to deal with the current situation that has adversely affected our communities.

The Mayor of Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality Cllr Tshireletso Marabutse giving political direction during the Mid-term Performance Assessment of the Municipality.

The Mayor emphasized that financial performance and the quality of the workforce underpin and fortify the overall performance of a Municipality and that failure to radically and exponentially improve on the aforementioned aspects would be tantamount to failure in achieving the primary objective of the municipality which is to deliver quality services to the people of Kagisano Molopo.

Today we embarked on a Red Ribbon Campaign following the World AIDS day commemoration dedicated to raising awareness on the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. We also pause to remember those who have died of the disease and advocate for the rights of those living with HIV. This year's theme is "Rock The Ribbon" to encourage people to unite globally to eliminate the disparities and inequities that create barriers to HIV testing, prevention, and access to HIV care.

Today the Mayor of Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality Cllr Tshireletso Marabutse joined children with disabilities and their parents in their demonstration of resistance towards bullying and violence against children with disabilities. The goal of the parade is to
educate society about the intersection of bullying and disability and to inspire advocacy for self and others to prevent bullying and to build connections between individuals with and without disabilities.

The Mayor Cllr Tshireletso Marabutse has learned about the passing on of Kgosi Golelamang James Setlhabetsi and joins the people of Kagisano Molopo in general and Tseoge in particular in paying homage and conveying heartfelt and deepest condolences to the family, friends and relatives of Kgosi Setlhabetsi. We wish them strength and fortitude during this difficult period.

The Mayor says the passing on of Kgosi Setlhabetsi is yet another critical reminder to renew our pledge in ensuring that the Municipality strengthens its long standing relations with the Traditional Leadership to promote inclusive and effective Governance and the overall development of Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality. The Mayor says the passing on of Kgosi Setlhabetsi posed a profound and crippling effect not only on the Municipality but the entire populace of Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality.

May the soul of Kgosi Setlhabetsi rest in eternal peace and rise in glory.

The Mayor payed a visit to the family of Kgosi Setlhabetsi to extend her moral support to the family in their bereavement.
