IRBA NEWS: IRBA Regulatory Strategy Gazetted and Now Available Online

The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) is pleased to announce that its revised Regulatory Strategy has been formally approved by the Minister of Finance in terms of the Auditing Profession Act 26 of 2005, as amended (APA).

In terms of Section 4(3) of the APA, the IRBA must determine a regulatory strategy for performing its functions. Consequently, this document is an update of the first regulatory strategy approved in 2021, and informs the Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, which serves as the foundation for our annual performance and operational plans. This Regulatory Strategy outlines the following:

Key priorities and strategic outcomes;
Guiding principles when performing our regulatory activities; and
Engagement with stakeholders, in its implementation.

The revised strategy is designed to align closely with government’s strategic priorities, including driving economic growth and capacity building through the training and development audit professionals. Ultimately, by promoting high-quality audits that build public trust in corporate reporting, we are also contributing to the strengthening of the economy.
