OCEANS ALIVE CONSERVATION TRUST

OUR PLANET • OUR FUTURE

Let's love, respect, appreciate and protect our oceans, nature, wildlife, and our amazing planet.

World Wildlife Day I 2024

World Wildlife Day is a wonderful opportunity to notice, appreciate, celebrate and take action for our amazing blue planet.

On this World Wildlife Day, we need to be reminded that all of nature, our oceans, marine wildlife, wild animals, trees, and plants, are our special and very privileged heritage to respect and protect.

Many species are on the brink of extinction due to greed and unsustainable human behaviour.

Elephants, rhinos, tigers, pangolins, sharks, penguins, turtles and many other wildlife species are now critically endangered due to uncontrolled, unacceptable human activities such as poaching, deforestation, illegal wildlife trafficking, habitat destruction, hunting and pollution.

We are the custodians of the planet, and we are all responsible for the current sad state of all wildlife, and we are all responsible for their future welfare, protection and conservation.

DID YOU KNOW – Longnose Hawkfish

Longnose Hawkfish | Did you know ? | Oceans Alive Conservation Trust

Longnose Hawkfish have no swim bladder, so they sink when they are not swimming. When they are not feeding, they usually sit motionless on the coral, watching for prey. This conserves energy and they can make rapid darts to grab their prey from above.

Earth Day is a time to turn our attention toward the environment and raise awareness about threats to its well-being, from ocean pollution to climate change.

As a human race we all want to live a healthy life, but that would only remain possible if the earth remains healthy too.
