HUMANITARIAN RELIEF🤝❤️🔥.

A delegation from Old Mutual handed over some short term relief to about 172 beneficiaries of Intsika Yethu whose homes were affected by the recent flooding.

Reliefe packs included blankets, detergents and food items.

Thembikhaya Booi said Old Mutual is committed to providing corporate social investment as a way of giving back the communities.

Acting mayor, Cllr Bongani Mpengesi said the municipality appreciated the intervention, saying all relevant government departments such as human settlements are working tirelessly to providing long term solutions to this matter.

Intsika Yethu is happy to introduce Cllr Mfundo Genu as the new councillor for ward 13.

Cllr Genu is replacing the late, Cllr Sonkosi who passed on late last year.

Cllr Genu will take care of all service delivery related issues and the stability of the ward.

Join us as we will be commemorating the passing of our freedom stalwart, Chris Hani in his home in Sabalele, Cofimvaba on Thursday.

Hani was brutally murdered for his involvement in the apartheid struggle on April 10, 1993.

The deputy president, Mr Paul Mashatile will do the key-note address.

The Chris Hani district executive mayor, Cllr Lusanda Sizani is in Intsika Yethu to discuss the state of water provision with Intsika Yethu councillors.

This is part of the mayor's Water Tuesday's campaign to discuss water challenges as the water service is a core function of the district.

The district is promising to address all water and sanitation related issues as a matter of urgency.

*Emergency Assistance for Flood-Affected Family in Ward 14*

Intsika Yethu Municipality has swiftly responded to a Ward 14 family displaced by severe flooding. The affected family of eight has been provided with temporary shelter at Cofimvaba Town Hall until Friday while efforts are underway to restore their home.

SASSA is assisting with food vouchers and hot meals to support the family during this time.

The municipality urges residents to remain cautious during the rainy season and report any emergencies for prompt intervention.

*Tragic Incident in Ward 13, Emawusheni*

Intsika Yethu Municipality is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of an elderly woman in Ward 13, Emawusheni, after a house collapsed on her. Municipal officials responded promptly, visiting the family to offer support and assess the safety of the surrounding area.

The municipality extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and urges residents to remain vigilant during adverse weather conditions.

INTSIKA YETHU HOSTS LIBRARY WEEK IN TSOMO 📚✨

Intsika Yethu Municipality, in partnership with DSRAC, hosted Library Week celebrations in Tsomo recently,under the theme "Libraries for Sustainable Communities." The event featured book reviews, a spelling bee, and reading activities, celebrating young readers. Winners were awarded by DSRAC and the municipality, with 1st place receiving headphones, 2nd place speakers, and 3rd place power banks. 📖🏆🎧🔊🔋

MAINTAINING PUBLIC ORDER⚠️🤚.

The municipality spent some good hours educating businesses operating within the Cofimvaba CBD about disobeying municipal bi-laws and its consequences thereof.

These included prominent outdoor advertising which obstructs pedestrians from moving freely, while causing the town to look unattractive.

The campaign was also aimed at encouraging street vendors to obtain operating permits from the municipality as non-compliance to these laws could have ramifications.
