In just over six weeks, water professionals, municipal leaders, researchers, utilities, consultants, technology providers, government representatives, and international experts will gather in Cape Town for the WISA2026 Biennial Conference & Exhibition.

UPDATE ON THE VAAL CENTRAL WATER 2026 WINTER MAINTENANCE

Vaal Central Water is pleased to announce the successful completion of key activities of the past two weeks under the 2026 Winter Maintenance Programme aimed at ensuring a sustainable, reliable and quality water supply.

The programme focused on critical infrastructure maintenance, system upgrades and operational improvements across various regions.

📍 Northern Free State Region
✅ Water supply fully restored after successful maintenance activities.

Key work completed:
• Replacement of damaged pipeline sections at the New High Pressure Pump Station.
• Installation of a new Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) and flow meter.
• Replacement and refurbishment of sluice gates at the collection channel.
• Refurbishment of pump station valves and related infrastructure.

📍 Modder River Region
✅ Maintenance successfully completed with minimal disruption.

Activities included:
• Cleaning of Lesaka Reservoirs.
• Re-installation of cat ladders.
• Cleaning of turbo circulators.
• Installation of meters at Lesaka.

📍 Caledon River Region
✅ Planned 36-hour shutdown successfully completed and operations fully restored.

Major activities completed:
• Cleaning of Pulsator 1 and inlet systems.
• Hydro jetting.
• Installation of a control valve at the High Lift Pump Station.
• Cleaning of dam wall inlets.

🙏 Vaal Central Water thanks all affected customers and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during the maintenance period.
