TURNING WASTE INTO OPPORTUNITIES

Enterprise iLembe proudly attended the launch of the new Packa-Ching Mobile Recycling Unit on 2 September 2026 at Moriah Drive, Durban.

The exciting initiative brings a simple but powerful message — waste can become an opportunity

Implemented through a partnership between Polyco, iTheku Recycling and Sasol, the Packa-Ching Mobile Recycling Unit aims to make recycling easier and more accessible to communities while promoting cleaner and healthier environments.

The initiative also shows how recycling can go beyond keeping our communities clean. It can help create jobs, support small businesses, generate income opportunities and encourage communities to participate in the growing circular economy.

Enterprise iLembe is excited about the possibility of partnering with Polyco to explore bringing similar recycling initiatives to communities across the iLembe District.

Imagine communities where waste is collected and recycled, local people have opportunities to earn an income, new businesses are created, and our environment is protected at the same time.

WHEN WOMEN COME TOGETHER, SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL HAPPENS.

It was a day filled with laughter, inspiration, meaningful conversations, wellness and celebration as Enterprise iLembe hosted a special Women’s Wellness Day to honour and celebrate the incredible women of Enterprise iLembe.

As we close Women’s Month, the celebration was more than just an event — it was a special moment for women to take a break from their busy schedules, connect with one another and celebrate their strength, achievements and contribution to the organisation.

Enterprise iLembe CEO, Mr Siyabonga Mazibuko, shared a powerful message of motivation and encouragement with the women.

He recognised the important role women play within the organisation and encouraged them to continue believing in themselves, supporting one another and confidently pursuing their goals.

The celebration was also honoured by the presence of our guest speaker, Ms Philile Msomi, who shared an inspiring and uplifting message with the women. Her words encouraged women to prioritise their wellness, recognise their worth and continue growing in both their personal and professional lives.

The atmosphere was filled with positive energy as the women shared beautiful moments, encouraged one another and reflected on the importance of taking care of themselves while continuing to make a difference in the workplace, at home and in their communities.

The day reminded us that wellness is not only about taking care of the body — it is also about taking care of the mind, finding joy, supporting one another and creating meaningful connections.

To all the incredible women of Enterprise iLembe — continue to shine, continue to rise and continue to inspire.

BUILDING STRONGER RURAL AND TOWNSHIP ECONOMIES IN iLEMBE

Enterprise iLembe hosted a significant Rural and Township Economic Recovery Strategic Engagement, bringing together government, business and key stakeholders with one shared goal — unlocking economic opportunities and building stronger, sustainable communities across the iLembe District.

The engagement was convened by Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister, Hon. Sihle Zikalala (MP), in his capacity as the District Development Model (DDM) Champion for the iLembe District.

The engagement created an important platform for stakeholders to strengthen partnerships, share ideas and identify practical opportunities that can support the growth and recovery of rural and township economies.

Among the distinguished guests present were Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the Select Committee, Hon. Mxolisi Kaunda (MP); Hon. Cllr S. Gumede, Mayor of KwaDukuza Local Municipality; and Hon. Cllr T. Mdlalose, Mayor of Mandeni Local Municipality, alongside government representatives, business leaders and key stakeholders from various sectors.

Discussions focused on supporting local businesses, unlocking investment opportunities, promoting entrepreneurship, creating jobs and ensuring that economic development reaches communities across the district.

The engagement carried a strong message — when government, business and communities work together, greater opportunities can be created for rural and township economies to grow and thrive.

Enterprise iLembe remains committed to working with its partners to empower local enterprises, attract investment, strengthen communities and drive inclusive economic development across the iLembe District.

The iLembe District Municipality advises residents of KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo and Ndwedwe to take note of the South African Weather Service Level 2 Warning for Damaging Winds, valid from 12:00 to 23:59 on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

Strong southerly to south-westerly winds are expected along the coast and adjacent inland areas, which may result in difficulties for small vessels, disruptions to transport routes, fallen trees, and localised damage to infrastructure.

✅ Residents are urged to secure loose objects, exercise caution while travelling, and remain alert to weather updates.
