On his final day as the President of the country, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte had light moments with his cabinet members before his official departure honors.

One of those who personally thanked PRRD and celebrated with co-secretaries is Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino.

Again, Secretary Dino would like to thank all the people of Visayas, his co-secretaries, Senator Christopher Lawrence “B**g” Go, and President Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte!

THANK YOU MESSAGE OF SEC. MICHAEL LLOYD DINO

For the past six years, the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) has been fulfilling its task of bridging the three Visayas regions to Malacañang.

We have always strived to go the extra mile beyond our mandate to provide assistance to many of our kababayans whenever we can and brought their concerns to specific government agencies so that these could be addressed.

To those whose concerns have been addressed, we hope that these have been resolved to your satisfaction. We pray that you pass the help given to keep our nation moving forward.

We extend our apologies to those whose concerns remained unresolved. While we tried to do the best we can, we are limited to what we can humanly possibly do and can only do as much as we could.

To all those who have shared with us their precious time; those who gave donations, especially during the pandemic; and to all those who have supported our efforts to serve our people in the Visayas, we can never thank you enough. All of you have shown genuine “Malasakit” for our kababayans.

The whole team of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) under the guidance of our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Senator Christopher Lawrence “B**g” Go, will retain this page as a historical journal of what we all did together, but like a chapter closed, it will be unable to respond to your future concerns.

To the people of the Visayas, Damo nga Salamat, Damo Gid nga Salamat, Daghang Salamat and Thank You Very Much!

It has been my greatest honor to serve the people of the Visayas region at a time of realizing genuine change in our country under a leadership anchored in the values of “Tapang at Malasakit.” As a very private individual before this Administration, I have found family in public service in all of you. But it’s time now to bid you all goodbye. Gikan sa akong kasing-kasing, daghang salamat kaninyong tanan. #

Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Ilan Fluss visits Cebu!

Presidential Assistant to the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino warmly welcomed His Excellency Ilan Fluss, the Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines, during his visit to Cebu yesterday, June 14.

This is the first time that Secretary Dino and H.E. Fluss met after the latter was assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Embassy of Israel, in Manila last October of 2021.

Aside from exchanging future partnerships between Israel and the Visayas, the Secretary is also looking forward to strengthening this partnership as recently the Finance Ministry of Israel and the Philippine Trade Secretary signed another agreement to promote and protection of investments between the two countries.

They both also exchanged the culture and traditions of Israel and the Visayas and urged Israeli travelers to visit the region and enjoy one of the best tourist experiences, one can imagine.

Secretary Dino also showed his collection of artworks to H.E. Fluss.

The two also exchanged tokens as a way of gratitude.

OPAV extends gratitude to the people behind the success of VVOC

As the Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center wrap things up after a year of its operations, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino thanked those who made VVOC a success during the pandemic.

It was in 2021 when the Philippine National Deployment and Vaccination Plan for COVID-19 Vaccines were rolled out.

The Regional and Local COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Centers have also been directed to develop their deployment and vaccination plans based on the guidelines issued by the Department of Health.

Today, over 150 million doses have been given in the country with 70 million Filipinos fully vaccinated 64% of the Philippine population.

“This is already a groundbreaking achievement of the government as we pursue our fight against the longstanding pandemic that has affected us in more ways than one,” said Usec. Jonji Gonzales during his opening remarks on the culmination at the VVOC, Friday, June 10, at Oakridge, Mandaue City.

He added that Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino wanted to make sure that the Visayas got its fair share of vaccines at the outset.

“And the basis of the NTF for allocation was the systematic and efficient administration of the vaccines. Thus, the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center was conceptualized and has greatly contributed to this outstanding accomplishment in our country’s vaccination efforts,” added Usec. Gonzales.

As of this date, around 19 million doses were given in the Visayas, over 6.5 million have been fully vaccinated, and 1.6 million boostered.

OPAV is thankful to the guidance of the DOH-7 team led by RD Jaime S. Bernadas, including the great efforts of Visayas Chief Implementer Gen. Melquiades Feliciano and wife Mia, Project Balik Buhay Chairman Edmun Liu and co-Chair Kenneth Cobonpue, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, Mayors of the different municipalities and cities of Cebu, Tri-City Mayors, doctors, nurses, and all medical frontliners.

With the LGUs, NGAs, and the private sector working together for the VVOC, the guidance of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to apply a whole-of-nation approach to the National Vaccination Plan made its success.

Special thanks to the support of the Senate Committee on Health Sen. Christopher Lawrence “B**g” Go for its proactive call for an efficient, equitable, and effective rollout of vaccines.

LOOK: Blind for 40 years now has restored vision thru Malasakit Center

One of the big wins of the Malasakit Center Program is helping a 47-year-old woman named Erlyn Sarmiento to see again. After she significantly lost her sight in both eyes to corneal dystrophy when she was seven, a Malasakit Center in Region 1 Medical Center assisted her until she restored her left-eye vision after a successful transplant on August 21, 2021. All expenses were paid for by the Malasakit Center.

Erlyn is one of the 3.3 million Filipino beneficiaries of the Malasakit Center through its financial and medical assistance and hers is one of the countless inspiring stories of the of a life changed and transformed for the better.

Recently, Erlyn met with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the author of the Malasakit Center Law, Sen. B**g Go, to speak of her experience in her testimony of the Duterte Legacy.

Now, Erlyn has been very active in assisting Brgy. Folks with health concerns in San Fabian, Pangasinan when it comes to availing health programs/assistance from RHU clinics and at Region 1 Medical Center Malasakit Center. Focusing on advocating for women and children in difficult circumstances, she emerged as a public servant after she was elected as a Barangay Councilor of their community.

The Malasakit Program, as it is now a law, will be unwavering in its commitment to helping our fellow Filipinos with their health concerns.
