As a Muslim, I very much believe that whatever happens in life is Allah's will.

I am incredibly proud of the campaign we ran in Newham and each of the 18,999 votes we received.

Anyone who is familiar with Newham will know that we were up against campaigns 10x the size of us and to have achieved such a result is an enormous feat and a testament to everyone who volunteered with us.

I understand the Newham Independents believe the Green Party have split the vote. The reality is that Green voters are by and large progressive voters who would not have backed their agenda.

People across Newham deserved an opportunity to vote for the Green Party and it would have been undemocratic to deny them that choice.

Both Labour and the Newham Independents ran a negative campaign against the Green Party, including AI-generated images of me as a drug addict, threats to have me arrested, and vans driving billboards around Newham with attack ads on me.

I was also on the receiving end of racism on a daily basis from Reform UK supporters and am glad to have comfortably beaten their candidate by a large margin.

Meanwhile, the Green Party ran a grassroots campaign funded by small donations, published a detailed manifesto, and turned up to every single hustings - debating our ideas with the community.

I will never forget the amazing support we have received, and the excitement of people to vote Green. We will continue to grow the party in Newham, hopefully starting with the election of a record number of Green councillors today.

The Green Party are the only ones with a real plan for Newham.

If elected Mayor on Thursday, I will:

- root out the corruption and incompetence at Newham Council

- ensure we have the best possible environment to live in, with clean streets and beautiful parks, and

- radically reform Newham's housing department so that it serves residents properly, as a responsible landlord.

Join us on polling day and help us build a Newham we can be proud of.

When you vote in Newham on Thursday, remember that the Green Party are the only ones to have actually published a detailed plan for what we would do in power.

The Labour Party have not published a manifesto for Newham, have shied away from public debates, and expect you to blindly vote for them.

The delivery of the Green Party's plan for Newham will alleviate poverty, drastically improve our environment, and tackle the housing crisis.
