ATTENTION-

While efforts to suppress voter participation continue to gain traction across our country, here in New York we are preserving the right to vote. I helped pass new laws that strengthen the integrity of our elections while ensuring every eligible New Yorker can exercise their constitutional right to vote. (Chs. 214, 215, 216, 217, 218, 219, and 220 of 2024)

Harlem-

Corbin Hill Food Project (CH), the Central Park Conservancy have launched a Central Park farm stand at 110th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard (Lenox Avenue). Running every Saturday through November, the stand will deliver to Harlem locally sourced, fresh produce grown from BIPOC-owned farms in the Hudson Valley, New York. Additionally, the farm stand will seek to educate and raise awareness about food access, sustainable agriculture, healthy eating habits, and environmental conservation.

The market opened on Saturday, July 20th and will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm weekly on Saturdays through November 30, 2024. The market will accept SNAP, EBT, FMNP, and WIC. Participating farms include Farm Fresh Carribean Growers, Mi Oh My Farms, Choy Commons,
Forest Fringe, Rocky Acres Community Farm, and Catalyst Collaborative. The fresh produce will include gem lettuce, kale, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini, and much more. I encourage all of you to stop by and grab some groceries.

On this day in history, women gathered all together at Seneca Falls and rose their voices together to gain equality and justice. As women together, they demanded their rights as women and this is where gender equality began.

Yesterday Evening, I had the privilege of giving a testimony at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library ! I testified before the Charter Revision Commission about the importance of the New York City Charter, which outlines the structure of our City government and the powers of our elected officials and agencies.

In my testimony, I highlighted the incredible efforts of Mayor Eric Adams & the Mayor’s Chief Business Diversity Officer, Michael Garner under the most challenging circumstances and the critical role of MWBEs in our city's recovery. The City Charter Revision Commission (CRC) is dedicated to ensuring our government remains efficient and responsive to all New Yorkers.

Together, we're shaping a brighter future for our city, and I urge Community Board 10 to vote for the proposed charter amendments considering the benefit of our Black and Hispanic communities. Thank you!

I was thrilled to join Governor Kathy Hochul as she launches the “Get Offline, Get Outside” summer campaign at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park in Harlem! This initiative promotes physical and mental health by encouraging New York’s kids and families to take a break from their screens and enjoy the beauty of our parks and outdoor spaces. With swimming pool entry fees waived at New York State Parks this summer, it’s the perfect time to get outside and make the most of our wonderful state parks. FREE ACCESS TO STATE PARKS POOL IS OUSTANDING! Let's keep up the great work. Make sure to stop by the Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park

Today we celebrate the Civil Rights Act Anniversary. When the Civil Rights Act was signed today back in 1964, this act prohibited discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion and national origin. Now today, because of the great activists who put up a big fight for this, has ended racial discrimination and segregation in public accommodations, public education and more. We are now able to live free and equal!✊
