💛 Illawarra Toy Library 💛 invites you to join them for a Stay and Play session at Figtree Grove this Friday 9 October.

Illawarra Toy Library is a not-for-profit charity run by local mums. They aim to provide families of the Illawarra access to quality toys and educational resources for children, as well as promoting sustainability through their toy borrowing service.

Enthusiastic 'The Herd' Run Club member and Service Coordinator of Illawarra Toy Library | sustainable, affordable, inclusive, Fiona, has hitched a plan! 💁‍♀️

At this week's Wednesday run club, she's organised a boot-to-boot donation drop off point from 6am for The Herd Run Club members to move on their quality used toys to the not-for-profit Illawarra Toy Library ahead of their opening in 2027.

The Herd Run Club are the friendliest run club this side of the planet. Free, and with no member fees, they map a 5km course around Wongawilli on Wednesdays for fast, slow and social paces, and families including kids. Arrive at Smith's Lane Dairy for 6:15am to begin at 6:30am, and hang around after your run for a discounted coffee at Smiths Ln Dairy

Illawarra Toy Library is a not-for-profit toy-borrowing service opening in 2027 in Port Kembla. Run by currently nine mums with a huge range of skills and the enthusiasm to match, it's a service that families across the Illawarra are looking forward to engaging with!

We have some incredible vintage* toys in our collection - donated by our wonderful community.

It's one thing to grow up with fantastic toys, but a toy you can pass on to your children and let them experience the magic is truly special. Our collection is full of carefully curated toys - new and old - that will give families of the Illawarra a chance to play in ways that bring joy, fun, and a dash of nostalgia.

*Sincere apologies to anyone who is experiencing their childhood toys being referred to as "vintage" for the first time.

Just SIX more days til the lllawarra Toy Library x Wellow Yoga play group collab!

At Wellow Play next Monday 21st September, you can expect some loosely structured, mindful Sights & Sounds-themed play and activities.

Many items played with by children and adults alike will be available to be borrowed from Illawarra Toy Library upon our opening in early 2027. So come try them out!

How It Works Series #1: The Toy Borrowing Cycle! 🌀

This week, we'll be showcasing some info about basic procedures to expect at Illawarra Toy Library in 2026! First up, what happens between selecting and returning your toys?

From selecting your toys and taking them home for lots of fun, to preparing and organising them for return, this handy graphic simplifies the process for you.

Let the kids get involved in every step of the toy borrowing cycle! Not only is it fun, it teaches caring for items, organising them thoughtfully, and following through a task from start to finish! Not to mention giving appropriate responsibility and making kids feel like a valued member of the community. Win-win! 💛

If you love categorising and organising, building something from the ground up, meeting new people and having a good old chin wag, consider being a part of our volunteer squad from time to time or as a one-off! No strings attached.

🌭 Presently, we need a few more numbers to fill shifts at our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser, on Sunday 15th November. If you're keen to join our team on the day, indicate it in the Volunteer EOI form (last question) and we'll reach out to you. Volunteering time here counts towards 2027 Volunteer Membership requirements!
