This year, the Town of Chapin will be donating funds from Old Timey Christmas to support the Dominick family.
Carter, the 3-year-old son of Cody and Kimberly Dominick from Little Mountain, SC, developed nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, and balance problems in July 2025. After many days of no improvement, his pediatrician sent him to Prisma Children’s Hospital, where an abnormal CT scan revealed a spot in his medulla oblongata.
Carter was admitted for further tests, including a lumbar puncture and detailed MRI, and remained in the hospital for two weeks awaiting results. His parents reached out to a neurosurgeon in Memphis, TN, who confirmed the spot to be a brain tumor. The family transferred Carter to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where surgery successfully removed most of the tumor. Pathology confirmed it was Pilocytic Astrocytoma, and Carter will continue with MRI surveillance for years to come.
The family travels to Memphis to keep Carter in the care of neurosurgeon Dr. Paul Klimo of Semmes Murphey Clinic, and he will begin ongoing treatment with St. Jude Children’s Hospital in November 2025.
This holiday season, we’re coming together as a community to support Carter and the Dominick family.
