Today, we defied the heavy downpour to visit the site of four ongoing projects within Yenagoa, the state capital.

The projects inspected include the iconic 9-storey secretariat complex for our civil servants, the State Independent Power Plant, Glorydrive Phase 3, and the 30,000-capacity Olympic-standard stadium.

The progress recorded at the secretariat complex, the Glorydrive phase 3, and the new stadium is remarkable and the commitment of our government to their timely completion remains unshakable.

I was equally briefed about the evacuation of power from the Gas Turbines to more areas of the state capital, an indication of improved electricity distribution in the state.

Today in Lagos, I joined my dear brother, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, for the 2nd Quarter 2026 Citizens/Stakeholders’ Engagement with a theme: “From policy to action: Mobilising Sub-National Governments for Effective Implementation of Nigeria’s National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy.”

First, let me appreciate Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the initiative to create this ministry that has the capacity and spirit to turn around the economic fortunes of the country.

The pioneering mark of Bayelsa State in the establishment of a State Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, is not only strategic, but it conforms with the drive of my Government of Assured Prosperity to diversify our economy away from oil and gas to tapping our resources in the ocean and rivers across the three senatorial districts of the State.

My attendance at the event was to open further engagement with key stakeholders and interact with industry players with a view to harnessing the vast economic opportunities in the maritime sector and also share our implementation model and experience with the sub-national governments.

In my keynote address titled, “Sub-National Leadership In Advancing Nigeria’s Marine And Blue Economy: The Bayelsa Experience And Pathways For Coastal State Development”, I made it clear that our administration is opening Bayelsa to responsible private capital in aquaculture, modern boat building, cold chain logistics, marine transport, and sustainable coastal tourism.

We have now become a national model for how to institutionalise and mainstream the Blue Economy at the sub-national level through enabling legislation and an operational model.

As expected from the various states, we are in the process of enacting the Bayelsa State Blue Economy Law that will align with the national policy set by the Federal Government to drive the marine and blue economy.

In Bayelsa State, we are creating an investment climate with the construction of strategic roads to attract the private sector particularly in the development of our flagship maritime project, the Agge Deep seaport in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the State.

For Bayelsa, Agge will not merely be hosting a seaport but it will be a gateway vision for regional trade, logistics, industrial development, fisheries exports and wider integration within the Gulf of Guinea.

We will continue to work closely with the Federal Government in unlocking our untapped maritime promise in the journey to industrialisation and job creation in the state.

The trending reports about the $4million rewards to Bayelsa State from the World Bank in recognition of the sound implementation of our various reforms in the education and health sectors gladden my heart.

Emerging as one of the best performing states in the implementation is a strong indication of our commitment to public accountability and transparency.

I am elated to note that the work we are doing here in Bayelsa State including the reforms in the Local Government system and our citizens' budgeting process, is being acknowledged at the global level.

In line with our standard practice, I wish to assure our people that, all of these monies that are coming in will be judiciously expended to strengthen the education and health sectors.

Again, I urge our people to join hands with us in this stride to build a stronger and more transparent Bayelsa State that we will all be proud to hand over to our children.

Today, I convened an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Yenagoa to reaffirm our collective commitment to peace, unity, and the progress of the Ijaw nation.

As we prepare for the 2026 IYC elective convention, it is important that we place the interest of our people above personal ambitions and avoid every tendency that could lead to division. We must continue to build bridges, not walls.

I urged all IYC leaders and stakeholders to embrace love, reconciliation, and mutual respect, reminding all that a united Ijaw nation is stronger, more influential, and better positioned to pursue our collective aspiration as a people.

I was particularly pleased to facilitate the reconciliation between Jonathan Lokpobiri and Theophilus Alaye. Their decision to embrace peace and put the past behind them is a commendable step that should inspire every Ijaw son and daughter to choose dialogue over discord.

The Ijaw nation can only attain greater heights when we stand together with one voice and one purpose.

Let us continue to promote unity, and preserve the legacy of the IYC, for peace, stability, and development of our people.

This afternoon in Yenagoa, I attended the stakeholders’ meeting of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As our first major gathering following the recently concluded congresses and party primaries, the meeting provided an opportunity to engage with party leaders, members, and all aspirants who participated in the primaries. It was a time to reflect, strategize, and strengthen our collective commitment to the growth of our party and the development of our nation.

I am pleased that our party remains strong, united, and focused. The APC continues to offer hope to Nigerians through the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his ongoing efforts towards the restructuring and renewal of our country.

Today, I also formally commissioned the new APC State Secretariat along the Sani Abacha Expressway in Yenagoa. I commend the State Chairman, Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba, and members of the State Working Committee for their foresight, dedication, and commitment to providing a befitting administrative hub for the party.

I am equally encouraged by the establishment of the State and Local Government Advisory Committees, which will provide guidance, deepen grassroots engagement, and further strengthen the party’s structures across Bayelsa State.

As always, I remain committed to supporting Mr. President and working with all stakeholders to ensure continued peace, progress, and prosperity for our people.

Today, I received our daughter, a worthy ambassador of the Ijaw nation and Bayelsa State, the current winner of Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, in Government House, Yenagoa.

I have followed her trajectory from when she emerged as Miss Bayelsa and listening to her today, I saw a queen with both beauty and brains.

While I send my hearty congratulations to our queen for her elegance, poise, and sheer brilliance she displayed during the national contest, I have reminded her that the crown is not just for her immediate family members but for the entire Ijaw nation, Bayelsa State, and indeed for Nigeria.

As a government that promotes tourism, youth development and excellence, I have assured our beauty queen that we will give her our full support as she prepares to represent Nigeria at the upcoming Miss World contest.

Once again, congratulations Miss World Nigeria, Tamunosoye Karibi-George and her team. Nua!

Today, Saturday, June 20, 2026, I joined the bereaved Egukawhore family and other sympathisers at the funeral of Madam Patience Igho Egukawhore in Okpolo-Enhwe Town, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The late Madam Patience Egukawhore, who died at the age of 67, was the elder sister of my dear friend and Chief Executive Officer of the Wayles Group, High Chief (Dr.) Victor Emonena Wayles Egukawhore.

She was a woman of exemplary humility and deep family values, who left a legacy of practical love and service to her people.

She will be fondly remembered for her warm personality and commitment to the unity and progress of her family and community.

I pray for God’s comfort and strength for the Egukawhore family and her loved ones.

The solemn occasion had in attendance political and traditional leaders from Bayelsa and Delta states, underscoring the strong inter-state bonds between both states.
