FIRE CALL:- 08:23 @ Minley Woods near Fleet Bends.
Another abandonded campfire.

The fire was deep seated, in and around a large felled tree trunk and was slowly spreading to a large area of two foot high dry grass that would have burnt very quickly.

Intially walked in with backpacks but due to the deep seated nature of the fire we called for the services of a Land Rover to give more water and a greater punch to extinguish the fire.

We have so far been lucky that thsese recent small fires have not got out of control.

We would like to thank everyone for keeping vigilant during this very dry period.

Another abandoned campfire deep in the woods which was spreading outward slowly. Luckily it had not reached any dense gorse or grassland.
Access for the Land Rover was very difficult. Thank you to Surrey for the use of their Land Rover and crew.

FIRE Call:- 23/08/25 @ 08:30 at Hawley Common.
Abandond camp fire in woods, spread to bamboo bushes. Fire appliance from Yateley and Land Rover from Camberley. Intially buckets of water from the lake were used due to difficult access for vehicles.

The By-Laws for Hawley Common forbids the lighting of fires at any time but during this dry period the risk of a fire getting out of control and spreading are very high.

FIRE CALL :- 21/08/25 at 21:00 Smell of burning in Hawley Woods. Yateley attended but they were unable to locate source.

During this period of exceptionally dry weather it is good that we all stay alert to the possiblity of wild fires.
