GERONA, TARLAC — Gerona Municipal Police Station successfully foiled an alleged attempted armed robbery on September 10, 2026, resulting in the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of several fi****ms, live am******on, hand gr***des, a suppressor, and suspected illegal drugs at a fast-food establishment in Brgy. Poblacion 3, Gerona, Tarlac.

At about 12:20 PM, the Tactical Operations Center of Gerona MPS received a report regarding three suspicious individuals who entered a restaurant establishment. One of the individuals was reportedly observed with the handle of what appeared to be a fi***rm protruding from his waist.

Responding personnel immediately proceeded to the area. Upon arrival, the reporting person identified the suspicious individuals to the responding officers. When the suspects noticed the presence of the police, they allegedly attempted to flee toward a Toyota Innova parked nearby with its engine running.

Police officers immediately apprehended one of the suspects and recovered from his possession a G***k 17 9mm handgun, loaded with am******on, including a magazine containing 16 rounds of 9mm live am******on.

The responding personnel also secured the suspected getaway vehicle and directed the other occupants to exit. While conducting the initial security assessment, police personnel observed what appeared to be a hand gr***de inside the vehicle, prompting the immediate request for assistance from the appropriate police explosive and ordnance personnel.

A subsequent recovery from the vehicle yielded the following:

One (1) sh***un loaded with four live am******on;
One (1) suppressor;
One (1) barrel;
One (1) Bersa SA Cal. .380 ACP handgun with magazine and eight live am******on;
Two (2) hand gr***des;
Two (2) sachets containing suspected dried ma*****na leaves with fruiting tops;
One (1) sachet containing suspected shabu; and
PHP14,000.00 cash.

Meanwhile, a G***k 17 9mm handgun, together with two magazines and 16 rounds of live am******on, was recovered from the custody and possession of one of the arrested suspects.

A total of five suspects, all males, were arrested in connection with the incident. They were subsequently brought to Gerona MPS together with the recovered items for proper documentation, inventory, examination, and disposition.

The arrested suspects were informed of their constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine. Appropriate procedures were likewise undertaken in the handling and documentation of the recovered fi****ms, am******on, explosives, and suspected illegal drugs.

Criminal complaints for Attempted Robbery, violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Fi****ms and Am******on Regulation Act), Republic Act No. 9516 (Illegal/Unlawful Acquisition or Possession of Explosives), and violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared for filing before the Provincial Prosecutor.

The successful police response demonstrates the importance of immediate reporting, rapid police intervention, tactical response, and community cooperation in preventing potentially serious criminal incidents.

Gerona Municipal Police Station, under the leadership of PLTCOL FORD B. SUDAYPAN, Chief of Police, remains steadfast in its commitment to protect the community, prevent crime, and ensure that individuals who violate the law are brought before the proper authorities.
