Nominations Now Open for the LG Award for Excellence in Public Administration.
This is one of the most prestigious awards offered to public servants in the province. It is awarded to recognize a person who has made a significant contribution to public administration in Newfoundland and Labrador. Nominations must be submitted to [email protected] by September 22.
For additional information and nomination package please email [email protected] or direct message.
CRITERIA and CONDITIONS OF THE AWARD:
1) Candidates must have made an exceptional and sustained contribution to public administration in Newfoundland and Labrador. While this would normally have been through a sustained contribution over the course of a career, nominations will also be considered for a specific extraordinary contribution. This single contribution or body of work must demonstrate: the values and ideals of public service; leadership; innovation and/or creativity; and have made a meaningful difference to the province.
2) Employees or former employees of all public bodies, whether federal, provincial, municipal or educational, as well as Indigenous government and organizations, are eligible to be nominated.
3) Current elected officials are not eligible for nomination, nor are current members of the IPAC Board of Directors (Regional or National). Recognizing that some individuals
have careers that span both, the award is intended to recognize contributions made predominantly during a career in or about public administration rather than elected politics.
4) The IPAC Board of Directors may not seek nominations each year; even if nominations are sought, the Selection Committee may decide not to grant the award in a given year.
5) Anyone may nominate a person for the award.
6) Once submitted, a nomination may be considered for three consecutive years unless the candidate is either given the award or if the application is withdrawn by the nominator or candidate. A candidate’s consent to be nominated, which is part of the original nomination package, will be confirmed in a subsequent year that the nomination is considered. A nominator or candidate may submit additional information to update an active nomination at any time. A candidate may be re-nominated following expiry of a nomination.
