Last week I participated in one of the Division of Personnel’s GVI Wellness activities “Garden to Table.” The two-day workshop offered attendees “how to” gardening tips to include, but not limited to, understanding seedling germination by climate and region, soil preparation, gardening in pots (and recyclable containers), vertical gardens, and ground, best sunlight for types of plants grown in the Caribbean region, fertilizer vs. plant food, appropriate spacing between plants, irrigation methods, garden pests control and so much more.
A special note of thanks to Director Cindy Richardson and her team (Ms. Martin and Ms. Estrill, on St. Croix) at the Division of Personnel for providing resources and engagements for the overall better health of all employees of the Government of the Virgin Islands, GVI Retirees and community overall!
Special thank you to former Commissioner of Agriculture, Carlos Robles, for providing informative and engaging session which culminated with hands-on planting of eggplant, collard green and beet seedlings.
The GVI Wellness programs are managed by the Division of Personnel’s Group Health Insurance Unit which manages and maintains medical, dental, and life insurance benefits for employees and retirees of the GVI.”
In good health,
First Lady Yolanda Bryan
