The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community.

This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government.

The NDIS now supports over 500,000 Australians with disability to access the services and supports they need.

This includes supporting approximately 80,000 children with developmental delay, ensuring they receive supports early so that they achieve the best outcomes throughout their lives.

So, Who are we...?

We’re Tracy and Adrian, the Founders, CEOs, and hands-on operators of Abacus Care.

We created this service to offer support that feels personal, genuine, and life-enhancing.

Together, we share a love of nature, adventure, animals, and exploring Tasmania’s beautiful landscapes.

Our passion for the outdoors and our strong belief in holistic wellbeing inspired us to start Abacus Care with a goal: to support others not just in daily life, but in discovering what’s possible.

Our company is truly family-run, with our adult children also providing support under our guidance, ensuring our values of care, connection, and trust remain at the heart of everything we do.

Tracy brings over 15 years of nursing experience, having worked in aged care, hospital settings, and general practice. She’s also an accomplished photographer and continues to run her own boutique baking business, adding creativity and warmth to the care she provides.

Adrian has a diverse background in IT, communications, drafting, disability support, and renovation work. He also has a deep passion for Tasmanian history and enjoys sharing that knowledge with participants during trips and conversations.

We built Abacus Care to be something more — a service that feels like family, treats people with dignity, and creates opportunities for participants to thrive, recharge, and truly live.

Why the Abacus as our logo...?

Making Care Count Through Connection and Precision.

The abacus is one of the world’s oldest tools for understanding, measuring, and making sense of numbers. First used over 2,500 years ago in ancient Mesopotamia and later refined in China, Egypt, and Greece, the abacus helped people calculate with accuracy long before modern technology existed. It’s a symbol of clarity, focus, structure, and balance — qualities that remain essential today, not just in mathematics, but in human support and care.

At Abacus Care, we chose the abacus as our name and symbol because it represents exactly how we approach our work:
With careful attention to individual needs
With balance between independence and support
With a human touch rooted in tradition and trust
And with a clear intention to make every moment, every detail, and every interaction count

Just as an abacus supports a person in navigating complex problems with simplicity and support, we are here to help our participants move through life’s challenges with clarity, dignity, and the right tools. Each bead on the abacus represents a step, a choice, a need — and together, they form a complete picture of someone’s path.

The abacus reminds us that progress is personal, and no two journeys look the same.

At Abacus Care, our mission is to provide premium, person-centred NDIS support that goes beyond the basics — support that uplifts, empowers, and enables people to live with purpose and possibility.

As a registered and fully compliant NDIS provider operating across Southern Tasmania, we offer tailored support that meets everyday needs and creates space for growth, exploration, and recovery.

We also offer individualised travel support and tailored getaways designed to help participants recharge, explore remote locations, and reconnect with nature, supported one-on-one in a spacious, off-road-capable vehicle. These exclusive trips (max 1–2 participants) provide a safe, comfortable, and enriching break from daily routines.

All of our support workers are Police Checked, Working with Vulnerable People registered, and NDIS screened, giving you peace of mind that your care is being delivered safely and professionally.
