Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, visited the ICAR-IARI Regional Station, Shimla, on June 11–12 and reviewed its research activities. His visit encouraged and motivated the scientists and staff and provided valuable guidance for strengthening research efforts aimed at developing advanced agricultural technologies, improved crop varieties, and farmer-centric innovations for the Himalayan and mountainous regions.

A campaign on the balanced use of fertilizers was organized at ‘Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav’ village, Shadog (Anji), Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, by the ICAR–IARI Regional Station, Shimla, on April 28, 2026. During the campaign, scientists educated farmers on the importance of balanced fertilizer use and recommended crop diversification with the integration of pulse crops. They also highlighted alternative approaches such as green manuring, biofertilizers, composting, intercropping, and other improved agricultural practices to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. In addition, ideal methods of soil sampling for nutrient testing were explained to the farmers. Farmers expressed satisfaction on successful organization of the program.
उर्वरकों के संतुलित उपयोग पर एक अभियान कार्यक्रम ‘मेरा गांव मेरा गौरव’ गांव शाडोग (अंजी), शिमला, हिमाचल प्रदेश में आईसीएआर–आईएआरआई क्षेत्रीय केंद्र, शिमला द्वारा 28 अप्रैल 2026 को आयोजित किया गया। इस अभियान के दौरान वैज्ञानिकों ने किसानों को उर्वरकों के संतुलित उपयोग के महत्व के बारे में जागरूक किया तथा दलहनी फसलों के समावेशन के साथ फसल विविधीकरण की सलाह दी। साथ ही, रासायनिक उर्वरकों पर निर्भरता कम करने के लिए हरित खाद, जैव उर्वरक, कम्पोस्टिंग, अंतःफसलीकरण तथा अन्य उन्नत कृषि पद्धतियों के बारे में जानकारी दी गई। इसके अतिरिक्त, पोषक तत्वों की जांच हेतु मृदा नमूना लेने की उचित विधियों के बारे में भी किसानों को बताया गया। किसानों ने कार्यक्रम के सफल आयोजन पर अपनी संतुष्टि व्यक्त की।
