Wed. Jan. 18 - Communicate Effectively: Working with Gen Ed Rubrics, 12:00 pm, RCB 148
Dr. Christine Austin and Dr. Greg Michna will lead this workshop to help faculty who teach General Education courses tied to the Communicate Effectively goal understand the assessment (both the beta/pilot that will occur during the Spring 2023 semester, as well the full assessment in Fall 2023). In this workshop, we will break down the rubric developed for this goal and offer suggestions on how data can be collected using the rubric. There will also be time devoted for faculty input on the rubric to make any adjustments between the beta collection and full assessment the following semester. Faculty who teach courses tied to this goal and department heads are encouraged to attend, as we hope to clarify and streamline the process of Gen Ed assessment and artifact collection across campus.

I like the sentiment in this syllabus statement.

Faculty Teaching and Learning Communities are designed to give you an opportunity to interact with colleagues who have similar interests or similar teaching techniques. This is an opportunity to share experiences and learn from each other. Communities can be built around any area of interest but some suggestions are Teaching with OER/ZTC, HyFlex Teaching, Teaching Gen Ed Courses, Writing Support/Accountability, SOTL, Active Learning Techniques, etc. If you would like to join a community, you can find the online signups at the following Google sheet, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1enSFh9zsHW8KMMvg14UddGPsx-VjGfUnSNngPLkxH_s/edit?usp=sharing.

I created an assignment. I thought the instructions were clear and yet it happened. I go to grade the first assignment. The sources aren’t cited using APA format. I go to grade another one. It’s not written about one of the topics mentioned. Perhaps the third one will be better. Then I see that ...
