The Environmental Health and Sanitation Office conducted a Basic Food Safety Seminar at the Upi Municipal Jail. The participants included Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and UMJ staff. The activity aimed to raise awareness on the importance of food safety and proper sanitation practices.
This initiative is in accordance with Republic Act No. 10611 or the Food Safety Act of 2013, with the support of the Local Government Unit of Upi through the leadership of Ma. Rona Cristina Piang Flores.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Upi Municipal Jail, through the leadership of SJO1 Joseph Vincent P. Palaresan, for his invaluable support to the Environmental Health Program.

Two (2) Environmental Sanitation concerns were successfully addressed in Barangay Borongotan, Upi, Maguindanao del Norte. The piggery and poultry owners, together with BLGU officials, the Barangay Sanitation Inspector (BSI), Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS), assigned midwife, and Rural Sanitation Inspector, convened to resolve community complaints regarding the nuisance caused by the poultry and piggery operations in the area.
Following a thorough discussion, the farm owners agreed to comply with existing sanitary rules and regulations to prevent further violations and to help safeguard public health.

The Environmental Health and Sanitation team remains committed to carrying out its duties in protecting and promoting the health and well-being of the community.

Magandang Araw, Upians!

Ang Environmental Health and Sanitation Office ay nagpapaalala sa lahat ngayong panahon ng Kuwaresma at tag-init na mag-ingat sa mga pagkain at tubig na ating ginagamit upang makaiwas sa food and water-borne diseases.
Siguraduhing malinis at hindi kontaminado ng anumang bakterya ang ating kinakain at iniinom. Sa panahon ng matinding init, mabilis mapanis ang pagkain na maaaring magdulot ng pagsusuka o pagtatae kapag ito ay nakain.
Ugaliin din ang palagiang paghuhugas ng kamay bago at pagkatapos kumain, at laging tandaan ang kahalagahan ng personal hygiene.
Bawat buhay ay mahalaga, kaya’t panatilihin nating maging malusog at ligtas sa anumang uri ng sakit.

PUBLIC NOTICE
To All Upians Who Own or Operate Business Establishments:
Please be informed that starting tomorrow, February 9, 2026, all business establishments that have not complied with the required sanitary requirements for this year but are still operating will be issued a Notice of Violation by the Rural Sanitation Office.
This action is in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 856 (Code on Sanitation of the Philippines) and Republic Act No. 10611.
The following establishments are required to secure a valid Sanitary Permit:
Grocery / Sari-sari Stores
Restaurants and other Food Establishments
Massage Spas and Beauty Salon
Barber Shops
Water Refilling Stations
Bakeries
Beer Houses
Meat Shops / Frozen Food Stores
Operating without a valid Sanitary Permit is considered a violation of PD 856 and RA 10611.
