Actually her songs are about:
1. not settling for less than she deserves.
2. Staying true to herself and not letting a man change what she loves best about herself
3. Knowing what she wants out of a relationship and that it is OK to leave it if it doesn't meet her expectations.
4. Knowing that she is strong on her own and doesn't need to stay in a relationship that doesn't fit where she is in life.
5. She refuses to be under estimated,controlled and treated badly.
6. She will not be reduced to a trophy, a play thing or a baby sitter for a grown ass man.
7. Realizing her worth as a woman and a human being and standing up for herself.
8. Not letting toxic traits,egos and misogyny take her independence.
9. Protecting her autonomy and setting boundaries for her body,mind and soul.
10. Learning from her mistakes, bad choices and trusting her intuition.
Why is it automatically assumed that she is the problem with her past relationships when historically and presently women have been gaslighted, controlled, abused,taken for granted and treated as 2nd class citizens? Her strength, fortitude, independence, courage to use her voice and stand up for herself, others and her beliefs is admirable and what I hope for my nieces and great nieces. Men have been taught that those qualities make a woman difficult, high maintenance, not marriage material. Women are no longer accepting their being put in their place. Their place now is wherever they want it to be. We are not going back.
