Thanksgiving is a special day to me! There are so many things to be thankful for. Fixing a thanksgiving meal each year for the inmates has allowed me to give back to the community I love serve. Thank you to all the wonderful employees and family members who came out to help serve the meal. Many helping hands made the serving go fast leaving us time to visit. We want to especially thank Pastor Tim from Goodland Bible Church who helped serve, prayed with the inmates and donated the Pumpkin pies.

Congratulations to Makayla and Austin for the newest addition to the Sherman County Sheriff's Office. Carter was born on November 26th weighing 6lbs 9 oz and 18 1/2". What a cute little deputy.

We were honored to have our brand new School Resource Deputy’s vehicle chosen by JR Audio to be displayed at the Kansas Sheriff’s Association Conference this week.

Last week was exciting learning about the Special Olympics and how wonderful the athletes are around the world. While attending the International LETR for Special Olympics in San Antonio I had the opportunity to visit with Chief Richard LaMunyon and his lovely wife Sharon. Chief LaMunyon is the founder of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. What an amazing legacy he has created. Raising over $1,069,136,677 worldwide since the origination in 1981 in Wichita Kansas. This money has allowed thousands of Special Athletes to participate without any cost tho them. I never realized how special Special Olympics was.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Trunk or Treat last night. We had an incredible turnout. We want to congratulate the winners: Best Decorated Trunk: Goodland Regional Medical Center (Carnival Fun); Best Costumes with Trunk: 4-H Ambassadors (Barnyard Animals); Best Movie Themed Trunk: Land 2 Legacy (The Little Mermaid). We also want to thank the following for helping with this event: McDonald's for the very nice Boo Buckets; Goodland Public Library (Marcy Melia) for making the trophies, GAC for the free passes for prizes, The Goodland Star-News for the advertising, SCCD for creating the maps, advertising and the use of the sound system; and the “Rock Star” Deputies of the Sheriff’s Office for all of their hard work in preparing, during and cleaning up. Finally, we thank everyone who brought a trunk to this event.
