OPINIONS REQUIRED!!!!!
See below for a link to an article in the Mahu Matters re Northern Arena confirm swim pool plan.

There is a public consultation next month and we are seeking community opinion of this possible development. PLEASE include the hashtag in your posts or shares so we can track all feedback.

Our concern is Northern Arena is a membership based facility. There are no facilities for public access. If successful does this mean that the Council will no longer prioritise Warkworth and Districts as needing a public aquatic facility?

Managing Director Matthew Saunders says ’I doubt we will get any financial contribution from council. We envisage operating and maintain the facility ourselves.’
Do we as a community want Council to push for a joint partnership with North Arena to provide some of these facilities? Or do we want a Council to provide our district with a separate public facility?
Consider that Northern Arena currently charge $18 per swim lesson or $16.00 for an aqua aerobics class (council facility classes are just $5.85).

Our campaign which represents the community voice advocates that Council invest in a PUBLIC access swimming pool …. one that provides swim lessons, play areas, splash pads for littlies, public lane swimming, access to classes (such as Aqua Aerobics) and facilities for water based sports such as our Kowhai Swim Club, Underwater Hockey Teams etc.

- Do you believe that a privately run, membership access only pool as our only aquatic facility in Warkworth is sufficient? (Acknowledging Mahu School Pool public lane swimming hours)

- Do you want council to push for a joint partnership with a private enterprise to provide public facilities or access?

- Do we want council to provide a public aquatic facility regardless of private developments.

We appreciated your comments and feedback.

Yesterday the home of a Scott and Melissa burnt to the ground leaving them with nothing.
Scott is rural fire office and until his recent move to Long Bay had been a volunteer fire fighter for 25 years with the Wellsford Station. He has only recently returned from the USA and Australia as part of the contingent sent by the NZ Fire Service.
He has given to our community without hesitation, protected us, saved lives, risked his life for us.
Please consider popping a few dollars into the https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help4longbayfire account his sister has set up to help them rebuild their lives. Aroha.

Good morning and happy holidays folks!
I am collecting any school uniform people would like to donate. I wash, mend and donate them to local organisations who then distribute them to local families having a tough time of it. The lovely Karen from Unicorn Books in town has kindly agreed to be a drop off point.

It takes a village to raise a child. 💛
