Men’s Mental Health Month 💙
Men have always been taught to be strong, stay quiet, “man up,” and handle everything alone. But mental health doesn’t care about gender. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, burnout, grief, trauma and emotional pain affect men too.
💙 Around 3 in 4 su***des in the UK are male.
💙 Approximately 14 men die by su***de every day in the UK.
💙 Su***de remains one of the leading causes of death for men under 50.
💙 The male su***de rate is around three times higher than the female su***de rate.
💙 Men are often less likely to seek support for their mental health due to stigma, societal expectations, and fear of appearing weak.
Behind every statistic is a son, brother, dad, partner, friend, colleague, or someone deeply loved.
Mental health struggles don’t always look like crying. Sometimes they look like anger, withdrawal, overworking, using substances, avoiding conversations, or pretending everything is okay.
Checking in with the men in your life could make more difference than you realise.
