The Western Regional Prayer Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has held a one-day fasting and prayer meeting to seek the face of God to ensure victory for the party as well as peace for the nation in next week’s general election.
The team which is under the women’s wing of the party, has its membership from all the 26 constituencies in the region.
Fasting and praying for several hours yesterday at Bogoso in the Prestea-Huni Valley constituency of the region, the team committed the NPP Flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the party’s parliamentary candidates across the country into the hands of God for protection, guidance and victory.
Delivering a short sermon at the meeting, the Head Pastor of the team, Mr. Edward Essilfie, declared that, “the NPP has committed the battle for power into the hands of the Lord and God shall surely fight on their behalf”.
Taken scriptures from Psalm 50: 4-5 and Proverbs 21:31, he said, the party by its conduct has made a covenant of sacrifice to the Lord and so God was going to provide them with victory.
He, therefore, urged the team to pray unceasingly, especially as the elections approach nearer, for God’s will to prevail on December 7.
Earlier, the team, led by the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Prestea-Huni Valley, Mrs Anas Wiredu Mensah, and the NPP Western Regional Women’s Organizer, Madam Abena Kwallah, visited Breyeagya, a community near Bogoso, where it donated school bags, exercise books, pens and other educational materials to the Breyeagya Primary School to enhance learning in the school.
Addressing the gathering, Madam Kwallah, said education was a major priority of the NPP and as a result, the party had promised to provide free Senior High School (SHS) education if given the power on December 7.
She said Nana Akufo-Addo was very passionate about education and was committed towards ensuring that every Ghanaian child had access to education to enable them become competitive in the global market.
She pointed out that, the free SHS policy was feasible, stating that the party’s track record of providing the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the Metro Mass Transport Programme and the free maternal care, placed it in a credible and capable position of implementing the free SHS policy.
She urged the community to vote for the NPP to enable it embark on its educational reforms and also implement its economic policies to improve the living condition of Ghanaians.
Mrs. Wiredu Mensah entreated the community to disregard negative assertions made against the party and vote for improvement in their lives.
Mr Charles Yeboah, a teacher, who received the donation on behalf of the school, thanked the team for the gesture, adding that, the items would serve as encouragement for the students to learn harder.
