Today, Metro-North marked the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, by unveiling a commemorative plaque honoring the memory of those lost and reflecting on the role Grand Central played that day.

As part of the commemoration, Metro-North’s 9/11 heritage locomotive will depart Grand Central Terminal at 5:06 p.m. for Yankees–E. 153rd St. Please use the TrainTime app to plan your trip. The locomotive will also be on display at Grand Central throughout the weekend.

We remember those we lost, honor those who responded, and remain grateful to the employees who continue to serve our region every day.

Riding Metro-North to the Subway Series at Yankee Stadium? Here’s what you need to know:

⚾ Friday: Yankee Clipper direct trains will run on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines, as well as extra service to and from Grand Central.

⚾ Saturday and Sunday: Yankee Clippers will run on the Hudson and Harlem Lines, and we’ll have extra service to and from Grand Central. Due to work on the WALK bridge project, New Haven Line Yankee Clippers will start at Stamford.

Today, we unveiled our 10th heritage locomotive commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

The engine honors those we lost, the courage of first responders, and all whose lives were forever changed.

You can see it on display at Grand Central Terminal starting Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13. It will then enter regular passenger service on the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven lines.

When approaching a grade crossing, remember to stand at least 15 feet away. Once the gates are raised and the lights have stopped flashing, look both ways before crossing.

Traveling on Labor Day Weekend?

We will have extra outbound trains on Friday, September 4, on the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines.

On Labor Day, Monday, September 7, trains will run on a Sunday schedule.
