Imja Tse Imja Tse, also known as Island Peak, is a mountain located in the Himalayas of Nepal.

It is a popular destination for mountaineers and trekkers in the Everest region. The peak is named "Island Peak" because it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from the Dingboche village in the Khumbu region. Imja Tse stands at an elevation of 6,189 meters (20,305 feet) above sea level, making it one of the more accessible and achievable trekking peaks in the Everest region. Climbers often use it as a stepping stone to gain experience in high-altitude mountaineering before attempting more challenging peaks, such as Mount Everest. While it is considered a relatively less technical climb, it still requires proper training, equipment, and experienced guides due to its altitude and the crevassed glacier terrain. The trek to Island Peak typically begins from Lukla and passes through the beautiful landscapes of the Everest region, including the famous Khumbu Valley and the Sherpa villages of Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. Climbers are required to obtain a permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association to attempt Imja Tse, and it is advisable to go through a reputable trekking agency for logistical support and safety.
