This morning two wonderful women, Joy and Sandy, came to the Highway Department to rescue 3 kittens that were living on the side of the salt shed in some of our cinder blocks. We were able to assist them catching these kittens. They are going to Hudson Valley Animal Rescue & Sancutary where they will be vetted and up for adoption shortly.

FYI Town Hall has installed a new telephone system. In the highway department, we are able to make calls out and answer if we’re here. If you’re leaving a message at this moment, we are unable to retrieve messages. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing our residents and hopefully will be working shortly. Right now it is best to email the department at [email protected]

The Highway Department has been working today at the Lake getting it ready for this year’s swimming season. We will be there again tomorrow to finish up.

In addition to the Lake work, we added new sand to the volleyball court as well.

I’m sure many residents are happy to see summer’s on it’s way ☀️

It’s an eventful day in Beekman this morning. A wonderful concerned citizen from Chelsea Cove walked his daughter to the bus stop this morning. On the walk, they discovered 11 ducklings stuck in a catch basin. They contacted the authorities and the Dept of Environmental Conservation along with the Beekman Highway Department we’re able to lift the grate and scoop the ducklings out all while the mom was circling, concerned for her babies. The rescue was made and the ducklings were reunited with their mom and waddled along on their way. Thanks to all involved.

It’s that time of year again, where the highway department is hanging the hometown hero banners throughout town. Some of the banners have been hung already and the remaining will get finished up this week. Thank you to all our hometown heroes for their service.
