On March 21, 2023, Chief Eddy LeCompte passed away. This page was built and utilized during his two terms as Chief. As administrator of the page, I fully support the Arnaudville Police Department and its personnel, but hand over the administration to Chief Josh Ross, if he chooses to use it as such. If not, it will be converted to a pro-law enforcement page, and it will no longer be the "official" Arnaudville Police Department page. Thanks for your support and patronage. - Ginger LeCompte

To all of the officers and employees I have had the pleasure to work with over the last eight years:

When someone is winding up a career, lots of thoughts and memories rush forward about the ups and downs, the proud moments of accomplishments and the regrets that if given the chance, might be done differently.

This “thank-you” letter is so much more meaningful to me because of who it is meant for – who I’ve loved working with, and who has been a prominent force for good in my last eight years.

To those who arrived late in the game, and who our relationship has been brief, I say thank you for choosing this career, for risking and sacrificing so much personally. No one knows better than another cop what this is like, whether it’s with a large agency like Jefferson Parish, or a small one like Arnaudville. In some ways, being in a small force is more difficult. Every move you make or don’t make is scrutinized; every decision you make or call you take is subject to criticism by a citizen, a politician or even another cop. You are under a microscope, and this can be frustrating, and can make you doubt your choice of career altogether.

My advice, because it’s free, and because I’m an old man – is this. Always stand on the side of right, the side of highest standards, and of the law, without compromising your principles or your faith. Always embrace this work with the knowledge that it is about service – to the community. Strive to be the kind of “brother” or “sister” to your fellow officers that never undermines the trust you have in each other. Don’t be jealous, resentful, competitive or create factions or alliances within the department. This will destroy the team and the cohesiveness that defines us. You are in charge of your own legacy, and believe me, nothing is worth more than to have been known or remembered by your peers as one with integrity, honor, and trust.

For you who have been here from the beginning, let me say from the bottom of my heart, your loyalty, your friendship and patience with me has meant the world. When you could have picked sides, criticized, or even sabotaged this me as the “new chief”, you helped me learn, grow and strive to be a better leader and boss. Your “institutional knowledge” of the culture of our department, the nature of our surroundings and the connection with the citizens helped me navigate and evaluate the best way to serve. So, thank you for standing beside me, supporting me and most recently picking up the slack as my health prevented me from doing all that I wanted to do.

For all of you, more than anything, I thank you – Ginger and all of my family thanks you - for your support, assistance, prayers and genuine concern over this past year. The prayers, gestures, encouragement and love continue to sustain all of us.

As I move into the next chapter with my memories, your faces will be what I see, and all of the grace you have given as I continue to fight.

Stay devoted to the badge, defend the thin blue line, stay true to the citizens you serve. Put them above all else. Do not be tempted or influenced by those seeking power, politics or prestige.

I wish for you the kind of fulfillment I have had working in law enforcement, and working with each of you.

Your Chief and friend till the end!
-Chief Eddy LeCompte (Arnaudville Police Department)
