Parents of Foster!
This one’s for you:
I know we don’t like to say the ‘S’ word too soon, but SCHOOL is around the corner and we want to make sure your kids are set up for a successful start. Paper & electronic notices have started to go out, but if you’re ready to get a jump on things fill out my survey below! This is just a quick check in so I can get a count of how many kiddos we have in each grade this year looking for supplies!

Speaking of… our Back 2 School Supply Drive is officially running! There are collection bins around town at Foster Public Library, The Gathering Robin, Groundwater Café, and of course Town Hall! We’ll be running this through mid-August so start keeping an eye out for those good deals when shopping (I noticed lots under $1 at Walmart this week!). See New & Notices on the town website for a helpful supply list.

Thanks everyone & we’ll chat again soon!
DSS Director Emily

Please complete this form so we know how to best support your child (ren) & family this upcoming school year! Call or email Emily at the Social Services office with any questions.

Town of Foster, Rhode Island
2026 Full Property Revaluation Notice

What You Need to Know:
✔ Why is this happening?
Rhode Island law requires every municipality to update property assessments every three years to ensure they reflect current market value. Foster's 2026 Full Revaluation will establish property values as of December 31, 2026.

✔ Who is conducting the revaluation?
The Town has contracted with Vision Government Solutions to perform the revaluation. (All cities and towns contract this out.)

✔ What should I expect?
Vision data collectors will visit every property in Foster. Please be courteous. They will:
• Measure the exterior of all buildings and outbuildings.
• Request permission to inspect the interior to verify property information.
Visits are unannounced, and appointments are not scheduled.

✔ Do I have to allow an interior inspection?
No. Interior inspections are voluntary. However, allowing an inspection helps ensure your property's assessment is as accurate as possible. If access is denied, Vision Government Solutions will determine your property's value using the best information available, which could result in an inaccurate assessment.

✔ How do I know they are legitimate?
For your safety, every Vision data collector will:
• Carry a Vision Government Solutions photo identification badge.
• Carry a letter from the Foster Tax Assessor authorizing the inspection.
• Operate a vehicle registered with the Foster Police Department
and the Assessor's Office.

After the Revaluation
• Early 2027: Assessment notices will be mailed to all property owners.
• Property owners who have questions about their assessment may
request an informal review with Vision Government Solutions.
• The updated assessments will be reflected on the July 2027 tax bill.
• Additional appeal rights will be available through the Foster Tax
Assessor's Office in accordance with Rhode Island law.

If you disagree with the assessment, appointments for review will be held in February and March of 2027.
