“On social media, they promote a ‘banner-free politics’ image, but on the ground TVK’s own banners, flexes and cut-outs continue to appear in many places. This creates a clear gap between the online narrative and what people see on the streets. Don’t judge political claims from social-media posts alone—compare the publicity with the reality on the ground.”

This viral post is misleading and currently unverified. There is no confirmed official government order showing that CM Joseph Vijay is forcing MPs’ or MLAs’ children to study in government schools. The post creates a “leaders must trust the system they run” narrative to portray Vijay as a leader who leads by example, but it provides no government order, official announcement, or policy document as proof. Until such evidence is produced, the claim should not be presented as a fact.

“Joseph Vijay's government launched the new Singappen Special Force with dedicated drone patrols for women's safety. However, technology-based women's-safety surveillance was NOT new to Tamil Nadu: the previous government had already budgeted ₹75 crore for drone/CCTV/AI-based women's-safety surveillance in 2025–26, and Chennai Police had announced 24×7 Red Button–Robotic COP surveillance in April 2025. Therefore, the claim that Vijay introduced technology-based women's safety in Tamil Nadu for the first time is misleading. The genuinely new part is the dedicated Singappen force and its drone-patrol deployment.”

“This misleading narrative is being circulated across social media by supporters and online groups associated with Joseph Vijay and TVK, portraying a routine regulation of VIP temple visits as a complete ban on VIP darshan. There is no confirmed government announcement that VIP darshan has been abolished. This is an example of how political social-media networks can exaggerate or distort a genuine government order to create a favourable image for their leader. Verify the official announcement before believing or sharing such posts.”

FACT CHECK:
Tamil Nadu’s free student travel on government buses is not a new scheme introduced in 2026.
The student free-bus-pass system dates back to the 1990s under the DMK government led by M. Karunanidhi was subsequently continued and expanded by successive governments.

The AIADMK government under J. Jayalalithaa continued the scheme and introduced smart-card bus passes in 2016, covering more than 31 lakh students that year.
The DMK government later continued the existing system, including measures allowing students in uniform to travel while passes were being issued.

In 2026, the TVK government under Vijay continued the student free-bus-pass scheme. Therefore, presenting free student bus travel as a completely new welfare scheme introduced by the current government is misleading; the policy has been carried forward by multiple governments over several decades.
