I noted when paying my respects that there is actually a spelling error on the headstone, with GeneralFEldmarschall spelled GeneralEEldmarschall.

Didn't even process it at the time, but I was drinking this when I arrived at the the cemetery. Obviously the drink has nothing to do with Rommel or DAK, but it is nevertheless somewhat of a coincidence.

Well today I finally made the trip to see Rommel's home, Villa Lindenhof, and grave in Herrlingen (Blaustein). Unfortunately as it was Sunday, the museum was closed, however just being able to be there was an incredible experience that I am grateful to have been able to have. For those who have not visited before, I do hope that someday you will be able to so you may pay your respects.

Well today is a big day that hopefully everyone on here knows - Erwin Rommel's 125th birthday!!

Rommel was born 125 years ago today (15 November, 1891) in the town of Heidenheim in the Kingdom of Württemberg (now the state of Baden-Württemberg) to parents Erwin Rommel, Sr and Helene von Lutz, and was the third of five children.*

So for anyone who doesn't know how to say happy birthday in German -

On this day in 1942, Rommel was promoted to his final and highest rank of Generalfeldmarschall (Field Marshal). The promotion came just one day after the conclusion of the crowning victory of his career at the Battle of Gazala.
