Sierra Leone is a nation of dreams—dreams of young people who work hard every day, hoping for a future where their success is determined by their efforts, not by their last name or family connections. But for too long, these dreams have felt out of reach. The playing field has not been level, and opportunities have seemed reserved for a select few.
Yet, there was a time—not long ago—when things were different.
Under the leadership of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, Sierra Leone witnessed a period of renewed hope. Roads were built, businesses flourished, and young people began to see real opportunities emerge. He believed in merit, competence, and hard work. His government gave scholarships to deserving students, opened doors for young entrepreneurs, and prioritized jobs and skills development.
