THE FAILED ATTEMPT TO IMPEACH INI LG CHAIRMAN AND STEALING OF THE MACE, A JOKE TAKEN TOO FAR*

A COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY MBOHO NDITO ODORO IKONO YE UKWOK AT AN EMERGENCY MEETING
OF 13th SEPTEMBER, 2022 AT GOVERNMENT SCHOOL, MBIABONG ETIM, INI LGA
IN RESPECT OF THE PURPORTED NOTICE OF ALLEGATION AGAINST RT. HON. (ELDER) ISRAEL IDAISIN BY SOME COUNCILLORS OF INI LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

The Executive members of MBOHO NDITO ODORO IKONO YE UKWOK (MNOIYU), an apex Socio-cultural group in Ini Local Government, at it's emergency meeting
on Tuesday, 13th september , 2022
extensively deliberated on issues of urgent societal importance and resolved as follows:

1. MNOIYU unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the executive chairman of Ini Local Government led by Rt Hon (Elder) Israel Idaisin (JP) for effectively managing the tasky affairs of the Ini Local Government and displaying strong commitment towards the unity, stability and success of Ini people.

2. We congratulate in advance Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, other leaders, critical stakeholders of Akwa Ibom state and the PDP for the piled up commendable projects to be commissioned before and after the celebration of Akwa Ibom @ 35.

3. MNOIYU commend all leaders, members, critical stakeholders or Odoro Ikono and Ukwok clan and our patrons, supporters across our communities for their continued steadfastness and supports in the MBOHO's mission to Enlighten, Empower and Emancipate our society from the oppressive and marginalizing political antics of self-aggrandizing leaders.

STATE OF THE COUNCIL:

4. MNOIYU strongly condemn the degenerative state of the seventh Ini Local Government legislative council with attendant incompetence and insensitive decisions of some of their compromised members.

5. MNOIYU condemn in the strongest terms the insensitive legislative instrument sponsored by a faction of councillors of Ini Legislative council circulating on social media calling for the impeachment of the executive chairman of council, Rt Hon Israel Idaisin (JP)

6. That the purported attempt to impeach the chairman of council by a faction of the Ini seventh legislative council without due process leaves us with no option but question the competencies and moral standi of those genre of councillors.

7. That the entire Ini people should be cautious of these specific audience of erring councillors (and their sponsors) conducting themselves in forms capable of undermining societal peace and coexistence

8. Whereas MNOIYU indisputably accepts that debates, protest and holding diverse views are all part of a healthy democracy... however we lament on the purported call for impeachment of our own son Rt Hon Israel Idaisin by confused councillors without substantive legislative evidences

9. MNOIYU regards a call for impeachment of the executive chairman of Ini Local Government without palpable offences to signal an outright abuse of public office, public incitement and threats all capable of stirring public outrage and conflict especially amongst the 2 political zones of Ini Local Government cognizant of the times we are in.

10. The intermittent persecution and victimization of Odoro Ikono people by certain cabal of greedy and desperate political actors and actresses is completely unacceptable; therefore, we will resist with all available resources, the anti-human activities from erring group of councillors contracted to victimize another Odoro Ikono son.

11. Aware of the fact that the impeachment of a chairman of council for non-presentation of monthly income and expenditure of council always occur prior to pre-existing sponsored motion and reminder notices on the floor of the house, with the chairman of council conspicuously failing to adhere same; we hereby call on these faceless factional councillors to tender to the public with dates as appeared on the votes and proceedings of Ini Legislative council;
(a) previously sponsored motion evidences with valid dates calling on the executive chairman of council to appear before the house and tender monthly income and expenditure of the council
(b) a follow-up warning notices or reminder motion to the chairman of council
(c) at least 3 or 4 different votes and proceedings of council bearing the dates which this motions were moved and seconded.

12. Aware that there was no sitting in the council where such motions were raised, it's an undisputed fact that these factional councillors are legislatively inexperienced and or lack sufficient knowledge of the procedures for raising a valid impeachment notice; therefore, we the Mboho NDITO ODORO IKONO YE UKWOK, joining faith with the entire Ini local government citizens hereby call on the Ini seventh legislative council especially the enlightened extraction, to as a matter of urgency, hold an emergency sitting moving valid motions, disclaiming and or countering this gross disgrace created by their insensitive colleagues, partly to distance themselves from such embarrassing legislative decision and wholly to reverse the jestful dent they have casted on not just the image of Ini Local Government legislative council but on the reputation of the entire Ini people.

13. MNOIYU don't plan to create pandemonium in our political weather; however, the non-adherence to this directive will compel us as a group to launch a campaign that will recall these erring and under-performing councillors from the legislative council.

CONCLUSION
A. It's on record that since their assumption of office; the Ini seventh legislative council have never publicly engaged their constituents or reflect those ultimate roles that they were elected to represent which include but not limited to;
a. Providing strategic leadership and policy framework within which the council operates
b. Taking decisions on major local and national priority issues
c. Providing community leadership by representing the views of the community and community engagement in motions and votes

d. Partnering with NGOs and relief agencies to provide better health and entrepreneurship services to constituents
e. making bye-laws regulating life and business activities of their constituents etc.

B. Aware that the seventh assembly have not accounted for the monthly security votes which they have received since assumption of office; (no ward briefings, oversight function tours, sponsored motion in the house promoting human and community development etc.

C. Desperate for their legislative responsibilities as councillors; the MBOHO NDITO ODORO IKONO YE UKWOK and the entire Ini people hereby call on the Ini seventh legislative council to
i. Urgently notify members of the public a date of public hearing of any of their pre-sponsored bills and bye-laws to regulate life activities across the wards in our LG.
ii. Call on ward briefing across the 10 political wards of Ini Local Government furnishing their electorates with details of their legislative activities since December 2020 till date.

D. We love peace and we need the progress of our sister political zones but not to the detriment of the Odoro Ikono zone. It will be equitable and lawful for all stakeholders of Ini Local Government project to acts in forms that will continually sustain the peace experienced in the Rt Hon Israel Idaisin led Ini Local Government council

E. The MNOIYU group hereby call on security agencies to arrest and prosecute the councillor who stole the mace of the council during the failed sitting.

F. We congratulate the governor on the seventh anniversary of his administration and the oncoming Akwa Ibom @ 35 celebration.

G. MNOIYU charge Inians to remain united as they reflects on those principles and ideals for erecting a stable and advancing society.
