Funding secured for vital council services in last nights budget meeting including ยฃ6m of funding to support enhancements at Frodsham Leisure Centre.
This is a budget that protects what matters most to you and your family. Despite huge pressures on council finances nationally, weโve worked hard to secure the future of the services our communities rely on.

We know how important accessible, affordable transport is, especially for older residents and those with disabilities. Weโve protected these services so people can stay connected to work, health appointments and their community.

Our cultural heart in Chester will continue to thrive. Storyhouse brings people together, supports jobs, and gives children and families access to arts and learning. Weโre backing it for the future.

Libraries are lifelines, warm, welcoming spaces for learning, advice and connection. We are keeping them open because opportunity should be available in every community.

Weโve secured funding for new boilers and major renovations in council homes. That means warmer, more energy-efficient homes and lower bills for tenants.
This budget balances responsibility with ambition. It bridges a significant funding gap while protecting frontline services and investing in our communities, as set out in the 2026โ27 Budget Report.
Weโre choosing to protect people, safeguard opportunity and invest in pride in our borough. Thatโs what Labour leadership looks like. ๐น
