Under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and count down to International day of yoga an awareness programme was successfully convened today on 21/05/2026, jointly by AHWC Limber AHWC Pehlipora and AHWC Nowshara at JNV School Shahkoot Uri,with the objective of spreading awareness regarding the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle.
The programme commenced with an awareness session highlighting the ill effects of drug addiction on physical, mental, social, and economic well-being. During the session, the participants were sensitized about the rising menace of substance abuse and the importance of collective community efforts in building a drug-free society. Resource persons elaborated upon the early signs and symptoms of addiction, preventive measures, and the significance of timely counselling and rehabilitation.
A special emphasis was laid on the role of Yoga and healthy lifestyle practices in stress management, mental wellness, and prevention of addiction. A detailed yoga session was conducted by trained instructor Mr. Bilal Ahmad Parray. where in participants actively performed various yoga asanas, pranayama, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques aimed at improving concentration, emotional stability, and overall well-being. The yoga session encouraged participants to adopt yoga as a regular practice for maintaining physical fitness and mental peace.
The programme also focused on motivating youth to channelize their energy towards constructive activities and healthy habits. Participants were encouraged to become ambassadors of the Nasha Mukht Bharat campaign and spread awareness within their communities regarding the dangers of substance abuse.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from healthcare staff, students, and staff members. The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to support the mission of a drug-free society and to promote awareness about the harmful consequences of drug addiction.
The initiative reflected the commitment of AYUSH Baramulla towards public health promotion, preventive healthcare, and community awareness through holistic approaches including yoga and wellness activities.
More than 250 participants participated in this program.
