Train Barn: Home of the Oregon Western Lines The Train Barn was the home of the fictional Oregon Western Lines, a 16' x 32' N-scale model railroad Call 541-620-2276.

The Train Barn has a room with a modular N-scale railroad layout that is open by appointment only basis. May through September are the best times to visit because the layout room is not heated. I can often open on short notice of ten to fifteen minutes, but this is a one man operation and occasionally I need to be elsewhere. There is no charge, but a donation is certainly appreciated.

These photographs show items from my personal collection that I am putting up for sale. Prices will vary. They are make an offer until I can update the pictures with prices. They are being sold "as is." Most of them are in good to excellent condition, but there may be some missing or broken parts. Figures and accessories that you see will come with the buildings except for the white, HO vehicle which is for reference and is not included.

Note: The structures were placed on my N Scale layout for the pictures, so the tracks you see do not match the scale of the buildings...which are HO. Crossing signs, telephone poles, and anything else that are a part of my N scale layout are also excluded from the sale.

If you are interested in buying any of these items, you may send me (Everett King) a private message so we can work out the specifics. Some items may have sold, so contact me to insure availability. I try to keep the list updated, but I may have missed some things. Shipping is $10.00 for items in the individual pictures unless the price says it is included. USA addresses only, please. Check back frequently as I do intend to offer many more interesting items from my HO collection.

Come September 20-21, 2025, to the SW Idaho Train Show in the O'Conner Field House on the Canyon County Fairgrounds in Caldwell, Idaho. Interested in board games and trains? I invite you to join me in a game of Accession: a property flippin' game that is more fun than M**opoly. I created Accession because I was not a fan of that old, classic game. (I don't think I have played it in the last 45 years.)

Beat me at Accession (my game) and receive a modest model railroad related prize. Perhaps you may even decide to pick up an Accession game to take home with you.

WATCH this site for upcoming items FOR SALE from the Train Barn and my personal collection of accumulated "stuff." Some experimental sales will, hopefully, begin soon. This will be a work in progress!

July, 2025:

I plan to eventually post some train items (HO and N scale) FOR SALE when I can find the time and energy to start taking pictures. I expect to post some items on this site; but, if you want to know more before I get around to it, you can send me a question directly via private message. [541]

The present plan was to open up a portion of the Train Barn building for specific time periods, and to sell off some stuff that is taking up space. Unfortunately, that hasn't come to pass. Most of the model railroad stuff is now in Idaho. [620]

Perhaps, you will be able to submit bids online prior to any "in person bidding" and arrange for a pick up time near Boise or from the Train Barn after arrangements have been made. Purchased items must be picked up during an scheduled time since I'm wanting to avoid shipping if possible. Shipping for some small items may be available on a very limited basis eventually. [227]

The Oregon Western Lines layout is presently "out of service" and awaiting possible liquidation. The Train Barn is closed and assets will be moving to other locations as they sell. The railroad may, possibly, be reactivated if a suitable location is found in or near Caldwell, Idaho. ( A search for a building with a 30' X 50' room--minimum size requirement in underway. Message me if you have a plan for a possible site.) [6]

Note: Note: This picture contains items which may or may not be available. I'm still preparing for the actual sale.... If you have read this whole narrative and still would like to talk to me in person, my phone number is in the brackets at the end of the above paragraphs.

If this link works it will connect you to the first picture that provides a pictorial history and narration about the building of the Oregon & Northwestern Railroad layout that at one time was located in the John Day Dairy Queen. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=3737008789676206&set=pcb.3737370432973375

We had about a 4' x 16" area to fill with a railroad that exceeded 50 miles in length. At one point the railroad extended much farther into the vast Malheur National Forest, from which most of the traffic originated, but that would be more than space would allow. This was the space designated for the layout, so it was time to begin formulating a plan....

Since this page was last updated, the Train Barn in Canyon City has closed and the train collection has scattered to various places--mostly in Idaho. Many of the Train Barn's modules and various layout components were donated to the Magic Valley Model Railroad Club to upgrade their N scale layout, which is located on the fairgrounds in Filer, Idaho (near Twin Falls). Most of my personal hobby time is now spent at the Old Boise Model Railroad Club in downtown Boise. If you are wondering what happened to the Oregon Western Lines, OWL equipment may still be seen operating on the Old Boise Model Railroad Club's layout from time to time. https://www.facebook.com/oldboiserailroad/

We are an N-Scale model railroad in the basement of the Pioneer Building in downtown Boise, Idaho. We are constantly improving and growing. We meet every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and most Saturdays members are available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This 2012 picture album probably presents the best beginning place for a virtual tour of the Oregon Western Lines layout. (Viewed best on a computer. The tour starts on the layout map photo.) It also has links to other albums and tours that visitors may find interesting. Just follow the arrows and the narration for help in navigating the "maze" of digital history. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.476543132389471&type=3

This is an updated tour of the Oregon Western Lines N scale layout as seen from an N scale helicopter. I hope you will take the time to read and N-joy my uninspired comments as you fly over the terrain of this make-believe world. Just click on the first picture to begin your journey.
