What a brilliant couple of days we have had at the Lincolnshire Show! 🌾

🎲 Our fairground games trail was a hit with our young visitors, with over 350 entries across the two days
⭐️ We were joined by two of our Safer Communities Leaders who shared the amazing work that they have done over the last year
⚠️ Over 450 fraud and scam prevention packs were handed out, which include key information on protecting yourself from fraud
🗣️ We had some great conversations with residents about policing and community safety across Lincolnshire - key topics included road safety, fly-tipping and scams
🧡 Lots of information shared on how to access support if you have been a victim of crime

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to have a chat, learn more about the OPCC and shared their views on policing in Lincolnshire.

We are proud to support a new Lincolnshire campaign launching ahead of the World Cup that aims to highlight help available for people experiencing domestic abuse, and encourages those using harmful behaviours to seek help to change.

The project has been funded using the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), which uses money that has been obtained through criminal activity to deter future offenses and disrupt criminal activity.

10,000 coasters will be distributed across Lincolnshire pubs, clubs and venues which will signpost to both the Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Specialist Service (LDASS) and to Respect, the national charity supporting people who want to change harmful patterns in their relationships.

👏 Celebrating our volunteers

This Volunteers' Week we are highlighting the incredible work that our Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs) do.

Our ICVs are dedicated members of the public that give up their time to visit police custody suites to check on the welfare of detainees and the conditions in which they are being held.

A total of 120 visits took place between 1st April 2025 and 31st March 2026 across the four custody suites in Lincolnshire, and our ICVs spoke to 153 detainees within these visits.

📢 PCC and Deputy PCC back young people's calls for stronger safety measures online

Our Safer Communities Leaders launched their "In Our Own Words" report today, which reveals a growing concern that many young people feel more at risk online than they do on the streets.

In response, PCC Marc Jones and Deputy PCC Sara Munton are calling for stronger national action, including regulation of social media, greater protections for young people and renewed debate on mobile phone use in schools.

The Safer Communities Leaders said: “we don’t think adults understand the true dangers we face online. Parents tend to be more worried about our safety outside, when we actually face more harms sat at home on our phones.”

The report also makes clear that more can be done locally, and partners are already committed to action. Including raising awareness of victim support services, strengthening understanding of crime reporting, promoting anonymous reporting tools such as Fearless (Crimestoppers) and promoting safety tools such as Hollie Guard and StrutSafe.

Given the recent tragic incidents seen both locally and across the country, we are continuing to urge people not to enter lakes, ponds, rivers or other unsafe open bodies of water that are not meant for swimming.

There are a number of hazards and dangers in these open waters. We want to remind people of the risks that open water swimming can bring:

- Cold water shock due to extreme temperatures
- Rivers with hidden or strong currents
- Unpredictable changes and depths to the water
- Obstacles and underwater objects and hazards
- Uneven banks and river beds making it difficult to exit

We are proud to be partners of the Lincolnshire Environmental Crime Partnership, and share their newly published Annual Report that showcases the positive work that has been undertaken in the past year.

Are you looking for a meaningful volunteering opportunity that will make a positive difference within your community?

We are currently recruiting for volunteers to join our Independent Custody Visiting scheme in Boston, Lincoln, Skegness and Grantham.

Independent custody visitors help to provide an independent oversight of police custody, and ensure detainees are being treated fairly.

You will:
🔵 Conduct unannounced police custody suite visits.
🔵 Speak directly with detainees and check on their welfare.
🔵 Monitor the conditions in which detainees are being held.
🔵 Ensure that detainees rights and entitlements are being upheld.
🔵 Report findings to support continuous improvement in detainee welfare and facility conditions.
