Teacher and staff appreciation week is May 5-9th!

The LOHS Parent Group is collecting certain items to be used throughout the week to help show our appreciation to the LOHS teachers and staff. Our theme for the week is "Back to the 90s." Some of the fun days we have planned are a walking taco bar, a staff breakfast to start their day off, 90s grab-and-go candy stations, ice cream sundaes, and 90s themed trivia .

Thank you to everyone who has donated their time, food/drink, supplies or funds in the past! We appreciate your generosity to our wonderful LOHS staff!

Alternative option: allow us to do the shopping and delivery of supplies! If you find it easier to donate money instead of items, please feel free to send your donation to the LOHS Main Office to the attention of LOHS Parent Group-Rosa Everitt, or you can donate via Venmo to -Kirklin; the last four digits (if asked) is 6286. Please indicate "Donations for LOHS Parent Group".

Please drop off all donated items to the front or main office by 12pm on Friday, May 2nd (unless otherwise noted).

The LOHS Parent Group is looking for donations to help feed the LOHS staff before Parent Teacher Conferences start on Thursday, October 3. If you are able to donate any toppings, soft drinks, waters, baked goods, etc. please consider signing up on the sign-up genius. We are also looking for parents to help set up and tear down the buffet in the staff lounge.

LOHS is committed to supporting our students beyond academics. To help them become successful and well-rounded individuals, they proactively focus on developing character traits that will serve them well in the future. The school-wide commitment involves recognizing, dignifying, and rewarding students who demonstrate the qualities of Generosity, Responsibility, Integrity, and Tenacity (GRIT).

When staff members witness students exemplifying these admirable characteristics, they write a “ticket” describing the student’s positive actions. GRIT winners are awarded prizes, which greatly enhances this recognition program and creates excitement and enthusiasm among the student body.

LOHS is currently seeking donations from local businesses and community members to support the GRIT program. If you or your business are interested in donating, please reach out to Danielle Bredemus ([email protected]). You may also drop off your donations inside the front doors. Donation letters are available for tax deductions.

Past donations have included gift cards to local establishments, candy, LO gear, fidgets, and more.

Thank you for your support in helping to recognize and reward our students’ positive actions.

Want a simple & free way to support and say "thank you" to our teachers & staff?

The Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise, maybe even making your student's first day back the "best ever"!

The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or even their own colleague. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary.

Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions!

Thank you to ALL our LOHS Staff! Our theme for the week is "The Year of the Dragon," which symbolizes strength, wisdom, health and good luck. Some of the fun days we have planned are a staff breakfast to start their day off healthy, a "Fill your Cup" day to give the staff strength, and a "Dragon Trivia" day to bring them good luck.

HELP WANTED!

The CTE Department is seeking advise and assistance from key business and industry partners like yourself (or family members, friends, etc) to keep our state approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs relevant.

We would like to invite you to become a member of the Advisory Committee, which meets approximately two times a year so education and business can collaborate with one another, for our business community to become aware of the program updates, and providing recommendation for the continuous improvement of our CTE programs.

The programs Lake Orion HS has to offer are:
Architecture/Interior Design
Automotive
Broadcasting
Business Management and Entrepreneurship
Computer Programming
Cybersecurity
Drafting-CAD
Education
Engineering
Family Consumer Science
Finance
Health Science
Marketing and Sales
