Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne joined fellow Mayors from across Sydney and NSW to call on the NSW Government to adopt a new approach to infrastructure funding.

Right now, outdated funding models mean essential infrastructure like roads, parks and services often lag behind new housing developments, placing pressure on growing communities.

The proposed model calls for a $5 billion interest-free loan facility for councils, $3 billion in forward funding for State and regional infrastructure in growth areas, and updates to allow developer contributions to fund a wider range of community infrastructure.

Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚴‍♀️

Today is the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy a ride around The Hills, with so many great bike tracks and paths to explore, like the shared cycleway and walkway around Bella Vista Farm.

Don’t forget you can give your old wheels a new purpose at our Bike Drop Off event at the Repair Fair on Saturday 20 June, 9am – 1pm.

You can drop off your old or unused bicycles, scooters and e-bikes for reuse and recycling. Donated bikes will also help disadvantaged kids through the Revolve Recycling Foundation, which provides free bikes to those in need.

Please note: Check and tune service sessions at the Bike Drop Off event are currently full.
