This past week, the D3 team was busy in the community joining in celebrations to festivals and lots more! Swipe through to see the incredible people and organizations we had the chance to connect with. ➡️
🏥 On Tuesday, September 22, our County welcomed the largest Valley Health Center clinic in our Santa Clara Valley Healthcare system, VHC San Jose-Campbell! At an impressive 10 stories, this clinic will be home to an array of services, including adult and pediatric urgent care and pharmacies, primary care, adult internal medicine, OB/GYN, pediatric primary care and behavioral health, maternal and fetal medicine, dental, and diagnostic imaging.
🎉 It was an honor to attend The Health Trust’s 30th Anniversary Celebration! Lots of nonprofits leaders and community advocates all gathered to recognize the organization's important and influential work. CEO, Dr. Anthony Von, stated their goal is to reorganize the system to intervene and help our community earlier. Thank you for all your hard and impactful work for our communities.
⭐ Emily had the privilege of attending Our City Forest's first ever Growing Our Future Gala at Mexican Heritage Plaza. Our office honored Rhonda Berry, OCF’s founder and outgoing executive director, for her tremendous work the past few decades in growing into the large, impactful organization it is today. OCF has done much work to remedy the environmental injustice of inequitable canopy cover in underserved communities in our County. We also honored and recognized Tree Amigo Louie Urbina, who has attended 354 Our City Forest events and has planted 647 trees!!
🎖️The-Vu and community members gathered at our County building to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of former President of South Vietnam Nguyễn Văn Thiệu. This occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on his life, his years of public service, and the history and experiences of the Vietnamese people. We honor the memories and stories that continue to shape generations of the Vietnamese American community.
🍴Elica had a wonderful time at the Milpitas Library’s Live Induction Cooking Experience with Chef Shivaranjini of Suggi Oota Restaurant! A big thank you to the Santa Clara County Library District, County Office of Sustainability & Resilience, and Chef Shivaranjini for bringing our community together to explore cleaner, safer ways to cook!
✈️ Elica also had a fun time at Reid-Hillview Community Day! It was wonderful to see the planes up close and kids’ natural curiosity about the wonders of flight. Happy to be out here enjoying a lovely day in Santa Clara County!
☀️ Emily and Nhi were excited to join Sunnyvale Community Services at their North County Resource Fair. There were over 30 local nonprofits and resources, bringing in lots of freebies and information/resources for the community. It was amazing to see so many community members attend and learn more about local resources
🏮 The-Vu had so much fun attending the 2nd Annual Story Road Mid-Autumn Children’s Moon Festival! It was wonderful seeing so many community members come out to celebrate together. From amazing performances and delicious food to local vendors, there was something for everyone to enjoy! Hope everyone who celebrates a Mid-Autumn Festival had a day filled with good health, happiness, and good fortune!
🌲Emily had a blast attending the Green Foothills' annual Nature’s Inspiration event. The guest speaker was Obi Kaufmann, the award-winning author, artist, and naturalist, and it was wonderful to hear about Green Foothills’ successes this past year, including their part in the successful effort to protect Juristac and their advocacy to achieve Bird Safe Design policies in San Mateo County.
