"Swachh Gaon, Suraksh*t Jalvayu" Campaign (1st–5th June 2026) – World Environment Day 2026

As part of the SGSJ Campaign and the observance of World Environment Day 2026, Special Gaon Sabhas were conducted across all Gram Panchayats of South Salmara Mankachar District.

📢 Awareness Programme on Menstrual Hygiene 🩸

Today an awareness programme held on Menstrual Hygiene was successfully conducted by the PHED team along with a Resource Person from NHM under South Salmara Mankachar District at Bright Heritage Academy, Hatsingimari with the objective of promoting awareness, breaking myths, and encouraging healthy menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls.

The session highlighted the importance of maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation, the safe use and disposal of sanitary products, and the need to eliminate stigma and misconceptions associated with menstruation. Students actively participated in the interactive discussion and gained valuable knowledge on menstrual health and well-being.

Such initiatives play a vital role in empowering young girls with the confidence and information needed to manage menstruation safely and with dignity.

Day 1 Activity | 01 June 2026

As part of the inaugural day of the "Swachh Gaon, Suraksh*t Jalvayu" Campaign, a sensitisation programme on the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026 and the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India was conducted through Video Conference (VC).

The session was chaired by the District Commissioner, South Salmara Mankachar and attended by the Assistant Commissioner-cum-Branch Officer, Executive Engineer (PHE), Assistant Executive Engineer (PHE), Block Development Officers, TO-SBM(G), District Coordinators, representatives of the CEO, Zila Parishad, Gram Panchayat functionaries, NGO personnel, and other stakeholders.

During the programme, detailed discussions were held on the provisions of the SWM Rules, 2026, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, and the roadmap for effective implementation of solid waste management practices across the district. Participants were sensitised on the need for collective action towards ensuring cleaner villages and a sustainable environment.

All necessary activities and action points under the campaign were elaborately discussed and communicated to the participants.

As part of the Inaugural Day of the *Swachh Gaon,Suraksh*t Jalvayu, Campaign*
a sensitisation programme on the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules,2026 and the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India was conducted through VC.
Respected District Commissioner, SS Mankachar Chaired today's VC and attended by Assistant Commissioner cm Branch Officer, PHE
EE(PHE), AEE(PHE), BDOs,TO-SBM-G, District Coordinators, representative of CEO, ZP, all the GP level functionaries and NGO personnel etc.
All the needful activities were discussed and informed in a detailed manner.

A hands-on training programme on preparation of Vermi Compost was successfully conducted today at Borairalga Community Compost Pit (CCP). The training session was imparted by Shri Moinul Hoque, DAO along with ADAOs, highlighting practical methods of organic waste management and compost preparation.

The Community Compost Pit was formally inaugurated by the respected District Commissioner in the presence of Addl. District Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Kokradanga Sisumara BSF camp BOP Commandant representative, EE(PHE), AEE(PHE), BDO, Fekamari Dev.Block, PRI members, NGO representatives, other PHE officials and field staffs etc. under South Salmara Mankachar District.

Following the inauguration, an awareness programme was also organised focusing on the functionality and sustainability of SBM-G assets and dissemination of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026 among stakeholders and community members.

International Women’s Day was celebrated at the District Hospital,Hatsingimari.
In the presence of the Assistant Commissioner Ma'am, Hospital Superintendent with other hospital staff, PHE Officials, NGO personnel, Safai Mitra etc.The occasion was observed with great enthusiasm and respect for the invaluable contributions of women in society.

To mark this meaningful day, a Safai Abhiyan (cleanliness drive) was also organized within the hospital premises under the Swachhata Campaign. All participants actively took part in the initiative, spreading the message of cleanliness, hygiene, and community responsibility.

The program reflected a spirit of unity, respect for women, and commitment towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
