Lucas County Emergency Management Agency The Lucas County Emergency Management Agency is responsible for coordinating Lucas County's efforts to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

The mission of the Lucas County Emergency Management Agency is to serve the citizens of the County through effective planning for natural and man-made disasters. Our goal is to save lives and protect property through coordination of an integrated emergency management system with local officials, emergency response organizations, support services, and volunteers. In the aftermath of disasters the c

ounty EMA supports local response efforts and coordinates disaster recovery operations from the county Emergency Operations Center. The Lucas County EMA also coordinates and supports efforts to train and exercise with local officials, emergency responders, community service organizations, business and industry executives and citizens. The Lucas County EMA is committed to actions that can prevent some disasters and reduce the impact of those over which we have no control. For emergencies, call 9-1-1

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN EFFECT

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Northwest Ohio, including Lucas County, until 7:00 PM EDT this evening.

Threats may include:
• Quarter-size hail
• Wind gusts up to 70 MPH
• Frequent lightning

Strong to severe storms may develop quickly this afternoon and evening. Residents are encouraged to:
• Secure outdoor items
• Charge electronic devices
• Monitor weather conditions closely
• Have multiple ways to receive warnings

A WATCH means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to develop. Stay weather aware and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.

Lucas County Emergency Management Agency will be conducting:

📱 **Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) Test**
🗓 **Friday, May 1, 2026**
⏰ **12:00 PM (Noon)**

🔊 **Outdoor Warning Siren Testing will also take place today.**

During this test, you may:
• Receive a test alert on your mobile device
• Hear outdoor warning sirens sound across the county

✅ **This is only a test. No action is required.**

This monthly testing helps ensure our alerting systems are working properly and that you receive critical information during real emergencies.

👉 Take a moment to check your phone settings and make sure **WEA alerts are enabled** so you don’t miss important notifications.
