Today, I was honored to give remarks at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Virgin Islands Equestrian Training Center in Estate Body Slob, St. Croix.
This moment represents more than the start of a new facility. It is the missing link in creating true continuity for the horse racing industry in the Virgin Islands, while also opening doors for our youth through training, mentorship, discipline, culture, and opportunity.
To the young people of the Youth Horse Association of St. Croix and youth across our Territory: this ground was broken for you. Your future matters. Your talents matter. Your dreams matter. This facility will be a space where confidence is built, purpose is discovered, and lives can be changed — on and off the saddle.
Equestrian culture is part of who we are as Virgin Islanders, especially here on St. Croix. Today, we honor that legacy while investing in the next generation.
Thank you to Governor Albert Bryan Jr., former Senator Javan James, my colleagues of the 35th Legislature, the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation, MCN Build, the Governor’s Millennial Council, Teri Helenese, our trainers, horse enthusiasts, community advocates, my staff, and every believer in this project.
Today, we did not simply breaking ground for a facility. We were breaking ground for opportunity, purpose, and the future of youth-oriented training and education in the Virgin Islands.
