One of the greatest privileges of my work is seeing the world through the eyes of young people 🌍💙.

Their commitment to making a difference in their communities is a powerful reminder of what is possible when youth have the space and support to lead ✨.

This , I want to celebrate the young leaders, creators, advocates and changemakers turning ideas into action and helping shape a better future for us all 😊 .

Happy International Youth Day! 💪🏽

Great to be in Toronto 🇨🇦 for the World Council of The Y 🌎 over the last two days. Everywhere in the world, the YMCA is making a real difference: supporting communities, creating opportunities, and ensuring that young people are at the heart of change.

At UN Youth Affairs 🇺🇳, we are proud to work alongside partners who believe in the power of youth leadership.

Still processing what happened yesterday 🤯✨. More than 3,000 in-person participants, 100+ speakers, and 40+ partners came together at the United Nations 🇺🇳 Headquarters in New York with one shared goal: putting youth mental health at the center of global efforts 🌎.

And we did it at a powerful moment: just ahead of the FIFA Men’s World Cup Final ⚽️, when the world’s attention is on sport, and the stories that unite us.

The launch of marks another important step in a much broader journey to break stigma, encourage honest conversations, and ensure young people can speak openly about their mental health 💙. Thank you to every young person, artist, advocate, partner, and supporter who helped make this possible 💪🏽.

And a special thank you to the incredible group of young professionals I am proud to call my team. Your passion, commitment, and hard work brought this vision to life. 🙏🏽.

This week, we launched the Progress Report 2026 during the United Nations High-Level Political week ✨ 🇺🇳

With over 500 participants, we brought together Member States, UN leaders, and young changemakers to focus on:
➡️ Accelerating the SDGs and the Pact for the Future;
🤝 Driving truly meaningful youth participation;
🌍 Building solutions that leave no one behind.

As UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed highlighted: “When we speak of genuine partnership, it has to mean meaningful impact on people’s lives” 💪

While more work remains, the report shows that the UN system is rapidly moving from tokenistic consultation to structured co-creation—working not just for youth, but with youth.

A huge thank you to all our co-organizers and partners! 👏

I was pleased to participate in the Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva today 🤖🇺🇳.

As discussions on AI accelerate around the world, one question continues to stand out to me: who gets to shape the future we are building? 🌎

Young people are among the first to experience the impacts of technological change, whether in education, employment, civic life or mental health. Yet they are still too often underrepresented in the conversations shaping AI governance.

During the discussion, I emphasized that meaningful youth participation is not simply a matter of representation. It is essential for creating governance frameworks that are responsive, effective and grounded in lived experience ✨💪🏽

Young people do not want AI to happen to them. They want to help shape it.
If we want human-centered AI, we need youth-centered governance.

It was a real pleasure to spend time with the 2026 cohort of PGA Fellows, an inspiring group of young diplomats from Cuba, Maldives, Moldova, and Rwanda 🌍✨.

We had a very open and thoughtful exchange on what it truly takes to make youth participation in intergovernmental processes meaningful, and how we can continue building stronger pathways for young people to engage with and contribute to the UN system 💬.

Programmes like the PGA Fellowship are essential, not only for building capacity, but for ensuring greater diversity of voices in global decision-making 🤝🌐.

I am grateful to the Government of China for convening the 5th World Youth Development Forum in collaboration with the United Nations in China 🇨🇳🌏🇺🇳.

Bringing together more than 500 participants from 100+ countries in Wuhan and across other cities, the Forum stood as a powerful space for dialogue, exchange, and collaboration ✨.

Spaces like this one remind us that the real challenge is not whether young people are ready to lead, they already are. What matters is ensuring our systems are ready to recognize and engage youth as equal partners in shaping solutions 💪🏽🚀.

It was a real pleasure to welcome a few days ago Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary‑General of the United Nations, in our Office 🤝🌍.

We had a thoughtful discussion on the role young people play in advancing the SDGs 🎯 and the responsibility we share to create the conditions for them to lead and shape decisions 💡🗣️.

The team and I appreciated her encouragement to keep pushing this agenda forward 💪, including the reminder that meaningful youth participation often requires us to rethink how we work and create “positive disruption” 🚀.

We will continue building on this momentum with young people at the center of our work at UN Youth Affairs ✨.

In Colón, Panama 🇵🇦, the Afro-Latin Caribbean Youth Congress brought together inspiring Afro-descendant youth from across Latin America and the Caribbean. It was a powerful space to exchange ideas, strengthen advocacy, and advance a shared regional agenda ✨ .

Representing 🇺🇳 UN Youth Affairs, I had the privilege of reaffirming a message I strongly believe in: leadership is not defined by titles, it is driven by courage, vision, and action 💪 .
