The tour highlighted how the facility operates, the role nuclear energy plays in powering our communities, and the enhanced security measures that keep the station and surrounding region safe.

A big thank‑you to the team at Peach Bottom for their time and continued commitment to innovation and public safety.

🦟 Mosquito Spraying Scheduled Tonight

York County’s Mosquito and Tick-Borne Disease Control Program will conduct mosquito spraying beginning around sunset tonight, Monday, Aug. 31, in areas of:

• Manchester Township — Eagles View
• Springettsbury Township — North Hills Park
• Spring Garden Township — Wallace Street
• York City — Clugston Road

The areas were selected due to high mosquito counts capable of transmitting West Nile Virus.

🌧️ If weather or other unexpected conditions prevent spraying tonight, treatment will be rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Residents can also help reduce mosquitoes by eliminating standing water in buckets, tires, tarps, clogged gutters and other outdoor containers.

Yesterday, the York County Reentry Coalition gathered with partners to celebrate 10 years of collaboration, service and second chances in York County.

Since 2016, the Coalition has brought together more than 100 individuals, agencies and organizations to connect people returning from incarceration with resources and support—from reentry assistance and workforce development to healthcare and recovery services.

The celebration was made even more special by recognizing another longtime partner, Open Arms Recovery Center, which is also marking its 10th anniversary. Open Arms has been a valued Reentry Coalition partner, helping individuals leaving York County Prison access the resources and skills they need for long-term recovery and success.

10 years. More than 100 partners. Countless opportunities for a fresh start.

Thank you to everyone who continues to help build a safer, healthier and better York County.

Today, York County celebrated a piece of its Revolutionary War history with the dedication of the commemorative plaque for the York County Semiquincentennial Bell at Camp Security Park in Springettsbury Township.

The bell, dedicated at the park last year, now has a permanent plaque marking its significance as part of York County’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

Camp Security holds a special place in our nation’s history. Built in 1781 by the Continental Army, it housed British prisoners of war captured during the Revolutionary War. Today, it is the last remaining undeveloped site of a Revolutionary War prison camp in the nation.

Thank you to Springettsbury Township , Friends of Camp Security , Explore York County PA and the generous corporate and philanthropic partners who helped make the bell and plaque possible.

York County has played an important role in America’s story, and we’re proud to preserve and celebrate that history for generations to come.

History was made here—and continues to be made here.
